Kentucky has a recruit from New Zealand coming in next year. His parents both competed in that lumberjack stuff,...so he was christened "The Lumberjack".
So he gets on a plane and flies halfway around the world,...lands in Lexington,...doesn't know a soul,...totally out of his element,..and he's walking through the airport and college kids spot him,...start hollerin' out, "It's the lumberjack!, it's the lumberjack!"
Totally hung him up.
He had no idea what it means to be a high level recruit at Kentucky.
He found out when he made a visit.
That's cool, though dating will be tough for him with no family/cousins around.

Reminds me of that old story, guy says-
"My girlfriend and I broke up, but like she said, at least we are still cousins"!
When its time to fight, you fight like you are the third monkey on the ramp to get on Noah's Arc... and brother, it is starting to rain!
This game was kind of a microcosm of what is wrong with college basketball these days. Those Kentucky guys were incredibly talented, but raw and not that skilled as basketball players. Whisky isn't overly talented but they have tremendously skilled basketball players who are upper classmen and who have been playing together for years.
If this were twenty years ago, that Kentucky team might go undefeated for the next two years as all that talent comes together as a team and the guys mature as basketball players. Now they all be gone next year and it will simply be another year to see if talent can overcome skill and maturity in the tournament.
Good post.
Not a real member - just an ordinary guy who appreciates being able to hang around and say something once in awhile.
Happily Trapped In the Past (Thanks, Joe)
Not only a less than minimally educated person, but stupid and out of touch as well.
Difference between Wisco and Tucky? The Wisco player will graduate. Wisco's ex football coach wanted to recruit some moron that had talent and wasn't allowed so he left in a huff. Isn't an edumacation the number1 thing at a skool?
Another difference between Wisconsin and Kentucky is,..If Calipari had coached Kaminski, Kaminski would have been making multi millions of dollars in the NBA this year instead of fiddlin' around playing college ball for nothing but free socks.

No problem, he will just make it next year. Maybe even more than he would have been offered.

And he'll have a degree just in case something happens to him and he can't run with the apes anymore.
Yeah,...but that money he would have made this year is gone. It's not coming back. Athletes have a shelf life and they have to make hay while the sun shines.
Cal kicks 'em out of the nest when they're ready to play professionally,...won't allow them to stay.
If they want to come back and finish their degree after their professional career is over, the university honors their scholarship and pays for their education.
That's why Calipari gets the best recruits. He puts the player's needs first and provides them with the facilities and training to go to the next level,...and as soon as they're ready, he sends them to the next level.
His stock has gone way up because he stayed. National player of the year award and a higher draft position will turn out to be a good decision.
Hard to tell. Lots of big men coming out this year.
He's be competing with Towns and Okafor for his place in the draft this year.
Considering the teams involved at the top end of the draft, competition ain't necessarily a bad thing.

If that's the case, then Calipari is a bald-faced liar in every interview he's done on the subject.
Sour grapes only make for good whine.
Kentucky played well, but JoeBob nailed it with the differences on the court last night.

(?)
Absolutely not.
It's his system and it works,..and he tells it straight.
Some people didn't particularly like it when he first came to Kentucky, but now they see the wisdom of it.
Take care of the players,...you get the best players.
