Looking for any experiences with the T/C Venture.....specifically the .223 blued version.

Think it has the standard 1:12 twist ??

Any owners, shooters, traders??

Found one for a pretty good price, figure it is not like a 700 as far as flex ability in aftermarket options , but figured is might give it a try.

Real world value?

Thanks,
Brent

My cousin's Venture in 300 Win shoots pretty well has a decent trigger and is comfortable to carry. I wouldn't say it is great at anything but good at everything. I've seen them for not much more than the RAR on gunbroker.

I've played with several models in the last few months and found that they deliver very good accuracy for the money. I reviewed the compact in .308, and went four for four on whitetails with it. Very handy ranch rifle. I spent an entire day zapping tonnage of P-dogs with the predator model in .204 Ruger and liked it enough to purchase one. For the price, it's hard to go wrong with the Ventures.

Good post. I've found the weathershiled models to be very accurate, to say the least. I don't see why the blued versions would be any different. The early ones had some recalls on the magazines and I've seen one rifle that the trigger wouldn't adjust below 4 pounds. Sent it back to the factory and they fixed it right away.

I have Venture 243 compact model and it is very accurate with lighter weight bullets. All under 1 inch groups @100 yards (60 gr Sierra hollow points loaded near max, group around 1/3inch). The 100 gr groups the largest at 1.32 inches. Functioning is very dependable. Some have doubted the magazine operation but I must say I find it easier to use than most and have no problems. I was a little concerned about the possibility of bolt opening when rubbing against coat or backpack since it has a 2 stage safety with the bolt capable of opening in safe mode. The bolt has resistance to being worked open unless lifted with some intentional movement. I really like that feature that is absent on Remington ans Savage bolt operation. Accuracy is excellent for hunting rifle and finish is good. My trigger is 3.7 lb from factory. No creep and crisp let off feels comfortable. Safety is firm with no accidental movement. The gun fits me and feels lighter than it actually weighs.

Everybody: thanks a bunch....

Good information and I appreciate the info.

I wish it were twisted faster but it might be fun to play with.

Thanks again,

If you buy it and it's not punchmarked by S&W to indicate they've handled the recalls, I'd contact them to see if your rifle is one that was included in the recall. It's nice that their website has a link for a free shipping label if you need to send your rifle to them for the recall work... Good luck with it..

I have a .243 compact. I like it but I did have the trigger break on me. Accuracy is good enough. SOmetimes I shoot rreeaallly good groups and sometimes 1.25" or so is all I can muster,, but those are Rem bulk bullets and doubt they will win any accuracy tests. It is a bit heavy for a youth model and actually 1/2 lb heavier than my sons Tikka T3 light.

Well..... I bought it.

It is not stamped on the safety...( I assume it is part of the recall)

I have got to put a scope on it, and see how it well it shoots.

I have had several, kids have them now. A 270 and 30-06. The 06 would shoot half inch all day with 180 gr partitions. Son snapped that one up when I decided to get rid of inventory

Well....still waiting to shoot the Venture.

Youth league basketball games with my boys take priority right now.

Plus the rain has not helped anything either.

I have a 270, found it on sale while back for $299. Didn't have to send it for the re call. It is a tack driver and a well built rifle.
It is little heavier compared to my Tikka lite SS 30/06, but that rifle was twice as much and its not twice as accurate. They are about the same, both under MOA
Now I'm looking for another one, just waiting for that sale price again.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.
