Can anyone help with DOM on a Savage Sporter 22 model 23AA with serial 1302xx.No other marks noticed.
Also a Springfield 187S By Savage 22lr has a A and 21w just ahead of the barrel nut.
Just a couple old rifles to play with that I picked up at a garage sale.The 23AA was very dirty from sitting in a closet for many years.When I took it apart for a good cleaning I found a paper under the metal buttplate with the original owners name and date of purchase? Dated Oct,21 1940.I put the paper back in place upon reassembly.

I think the serial on the 23AA would be a 1934 production.
The 21W inspectors stamp would indicate 1969 if they followed the pattern of the 99 markings.

Every firearm sold starting in 1969 had to have a serial number (1968 GCA), so it shouldn't be 1969. Is the 21W inside of an oval?

Yes,the 21w is in an oval.I think It may have a serial on it starting with letter A.I will have to pull it out of the safe to check this evening.

Aha... If it has a serial number starting with an A, then 1969 is definitely right.
