Well, after a year an a bit Stuck in Northern California, The company My Wife and I work for has decided that they have had enough of California and are moving the company to Columbia Falls, Montana.

So we Will be moving there sometime in the next few months.

What can people tell me about the area, Housing etc.

It's a hell of a lot better than California. Regardless of how you look at it. The worst place in Montana is better than the best place in California.

I'm sitting at a motel in Kalispell, going to be working at the mill in Columbia Falls tomorrow. I really like it up here.

Other towns near by.

Whitefish

Kalispell

Hungry Horse

Wish you luck on your move. Living on the west side of the divide has less wind.

We are looking forward to it.

I think our biggest issue is going to be finding a house up there that is in our price range and not in town.

It also doesn't help that we don't know exactly when we will be moving. We have heard 2-3 week to a month or two.

I've lived in both northern California (Redding area) and Big Fork (south of Kalispell). Columbia Falls beats Nor-Cal hands down any day of the week and twice on Sunday...

From a shopping viewpoint, Kalispell is a short drive and offers all that you'll need - it's a nice town too.

+ 10

This is a nice town, I like it. I lived in Bigfork, it's nice. A-bit far to Columbia Falls.

I lived in Whitefish for 2 very long years. The day my move package expired I left, never to return.

I hope you like it better than I did.

If you love to fish, then you are moving to Heaven. Also great snowmobiling, skiing, and pretty decent hunting if you work at it. The whole area is easy on the eyes. I'd move there in a heart beat if I could find a job there.

We've got a house rented for the middle of July somewhere around Whitefish, never been to that part of Montana, will be ready to get out of the heat and humidity of Missouri and see some mountains by then.

Thanks for the input guys.

I was noticing that there seem to be quite a few small firearms manufacturers in that area.
