Had some 257R brass on notification at Midway. Just got an email that the product is discontinued. Anybody know if Remington discontinued it or is it just discontinued at Midway? Is Midway discontinuing all brass or just slow movers?

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

I have some on order that will be head stamped .280 RCBS, and I have received nothing from them saying that it has been canceled. This was special order stuff. miles

I got one that said 500 piece boxes of RP 7-08 brass were discontinued. Could be a change in SKU's or government conspiracy.

Their website says "Out of Stock, No Backorder". My guess is they cancelled your backorder because it is way overdue and they have no idea when they will get any.

I've heard the reason for the shortage is due to the companies cranking out more factory ammo, so there is very little to be distributed to handloaders... but we all know how rumors go ...

I got the same on some 222 brass in the 500 count, logged on and it is still available to "request updates" for the 100 count.
It says they discontinued the 500 pack.

To some degree all brass is "seasonal". Factories only have so much capacity, and you have to retool to change the cartridge you are running. With the current run on .223 and other high volume rounds, your odd ball stuff just isn't going to get made until production of the mainstream cartridges catches up with demand.

Shows overdue now. You might want to sign back up for notification.

I have 257R and 350 Rem Mag. I know the 350 Rem Mags are seasonal runs about once a year.

So I called Remington. Lady in CS said 257 Rob is still in the catalog but there is no plan to run any in 2015.
Emailed Win and they said they do plan to run some this year but it hasn't been put into the schedule yet.
Put in an order with Powder Valley, if I get desperate, I'll order some 7x57 and run it through the sizer.

Last year Midway told me that they dropped numerous calibers of brass and ammunition simply to keep from having to answer when it would be available; it wasn't actually dropped by the manufacturer or Midway.

When I called Remington, the production supervisor told me that they would not run any extra brass unless it was at least 100,000 rds. She also told me that their new management did not feel the same way about making brass for reloading as former management. So I took this info this way. The heck with reloaders, they could buy loaded ammo.

Look at the current demand situation.

What do you expect?
