When I purchased my Glock 27, the guy who had it provided me with 4 50 round boxes of 180gr Federal Hydra Shocks and a 50 round box of American Eagle target ammo.
I traded a box of the Hydra Shocks for an afternoon of shooting pistols with my cousin (we probably shot off 300+ rounds between all of his guns, and I didn't pay a penny). I then traded my BIL a box for a Tagua holster, made for the G27.
The same guy that sold me the gun just sold me 3 more 50 round boxes of the Hydra Shocks for $45.
I know that I got a good deal on the rounds, and don't see a need to purchase a ton more ammo, but would like comparisons in EDC rounds.
What else do folks carry, that maybe I should check out?
I'd rather have a bad day hunting than a good day working!

Depends on the gun/caliber, as several make the rotation depending on the weather, how I'm dressed, etc.
Mostly, it comes down to these:
Federal HST Ranger T Gold Dot PDX1
If you're fixin' to put a hole in something, make it a hole to remember.

Standard velocity 230 grain Gold Dots in .45 ACP and 124 Gold Dots in 9mm. When I carried a .40, it was with 180 grain Gold Dots.
I keep some Buffalo Bore .45 ACP 255 grain +P hard cast flat points at the cabin in case I want to upgrade for tooling around in the woods.

It used to be Gold Dots exclusively. When I can't find those I buy Hornady Critical Defense.
Don't go through much, a box a year just to keep the ammo cycled through. All other shooting is done with lead bullet handloads.

Federal HST... Have no problem with Gold Dots, Ranger-T, Golden Sabre or TAC-X Barnes. They all work.

Speer GoldDots. Same things carried by LEOs in duty weapons around here, for that reason and they shoot well in my EDCs.
