The old model 10 police trade ins are few and far between these days. That's a great price on a pretty practical revolver. I am set up good enough on K frames with a couple of model 19s and a Model 15, but if I had spare cash, I might be very tempted.

For that price, those Model 10's would make a great house gun for a little old lady without the hand strength to rack the slide on a autoloader. If I had some spare change right now, I'd order one just for a spare. Great price on a great revolver!

That isn't bad at all...and how often do you see a round butt Model 10, that fits a lot of hands better than a square butt, with a 4" heavy barrel....

Although I have fairly large hands, I still prefer the round butt frames on S&W K and N frames. I Prefer the same when it comes to women, also!

I've long regretted not buying one of the RHKPD 38's that were hitting the market back in the early 90's. Now, along comes these revolvers and I'm trying really hard not to make the same mistake twice. Money's tight right now but.....

It doesn't seem that long ago when Model 10's and 15's were a dime a dozen. They and Model 19's were standard issue for probably thousands of police and sheriff's departments until everybody went to hi-cap wonder nines. For a while no one wanted some stodgy old six shooter, even though they were built like Swiss watches and you can't hardly shoot out a .38.
IIRC even 5-6 years ago a Model 15 would bring $250, maybe $300 if it was in great condition. Then all of a sudden there was a huge explosion in the prices for the older Smiths.
I have my Model 15 so don't need another .38 Spl, but if someone wants a fine, accurate and easy shooting revolver for a really good price those Model 10's at Bud's are priced right.

My wife's bedside gun is a Model 15. Super nice little gun. That skinny barrel would make it a quite nice packing piece if one was so inclined. Superb shooter too.

I love my berry patch Model 15...can't decide whether to put some VZgrips on it or just get me a nickel T-grip. [img:left] [/img]

I remember when the Feds carried 2.5" Model 66 S&W's They were hard to find in early 80's. They would make a good concealed carry piece IMO I don't need a wondernine.

I was looking at this thread the other day and decided to touch up a s&w model ten-5, was property of the boston P.D. at one time. holster wear on the front of barrel and on front of cyclinder, but that's about it. Still locks up good. Had to clean the blast marks off the front of the cyclinder too. They just feel good in the hand. I doubt if it was ever shot much, and at one time they were going for about 75bucks. Still a good value at that price, I do remember some camden N.J. heavy barrel smiths that at the time i think were about 150bucks. basically new guns. what we have seen here in arizona in recent years are second and third generation glocks coming out of police departments in calif. Including some springfield scout rifles. Must spend the budget you know, on the newer toys. Some beretta 92's too.

You would be hard pressed to come up with a better gun than a M10 Smith, if you weren't a pistol loony and if all you wanted was one handgun to keep around the house. Heck, even if you are a pistol loony you can't go wrong with one. Not much more fun to be had than a Smith .38 and a big bag of wadcutters and limitless empty beer cans to bounce around on a sunny afternoon.
