With my Gen 2 Glock 19, I received three 15 round magazines. I would like a couple more. Looking online, I see references to 'pre short frame', Gen 4, and other confusing things. My question is will any and all Glock 15 round magazines fit my Gen 2 model?

I think so.
I believe the only compatibility issues are with a select few of the early Glock SF 21s with ambidextrous mag releases.

called two lgs today, and both said I had to bring the pistol in for them to see what mags would fit. Idiots? Are they correct?

I'm pretty sure they will.
Now...your Gen 2's will not fit in the Gen 4. Gen 4's are different, and will only take Gen 4 and newer, but the magazines will still fit in the Gen 1-3.

A factory Gen2 Glock 19 can use any generation magazine. The End.

Pretty sure old mags still work in Gen 4's as long as you haven't swapped the mag release to the right side

www.glockstore.comPlease note: Gen 4 magazines must be used in Gen 4 guns only if the magazine release is switched from the left side to the right side (for left-handed shooters). In any other case all previous generation magazines will fit the Gen 4 and all Gen 4 magazines will fit all Glocks from previous generations.

Sam,
I made a bulk purchase awhile back and can spare a couple G19 mags. Brand new. Never had a round in them. If you want them, PM your address and I'll send them to you. If they fit and you like them, send me $45. If you don't like them, just mail them back to me.

My apologies, gentlemen.
I tried fitting a Gen3 magazine in a Gen4 Glock 23, and it didn't work. Didn't realize that switching to left handed altered that (my BIL is a lefty, and has switched all of his).

Gen 1-3 on the left, Gen 4 on the right. Notice two mag catch notches on the G4. Only difference.

Also different a different follower and body, but there can be many versions of perfection. The rectangular notch on the front of the Gen4 magazine is for the POS and short-lived ambi magazine release on the Gen3 G21SF and European Gen3 versions of the G19 and G17.
