When canoeing, boating, or just being around water, what is a good way to carry a handgun to keep it dry? I was thinking of a small Pelican case. Any solutions from the field? Thanks.

I'm not a believer in waterproof cases. The downside is that they also seal water in so a damp handgun never gets a chance to dry - one of the fastest ways to corrode something.

Since there are times where waterproof is preferred, I use a zip-lock bag inside whichever case I'm using. I can always leave the zip-lock open or leave the handgun out of it. I like the bags that have the sliding tab the seals the bag - they're easier to use with gloves, when it's cold out, or if you're regular zip-lock impaired like I am.

The zip-lock freezer bags are much more heavy duty than the regular type.

Forgive me my nonsense, as I also forgive the nonsense of those that think they talk sense.

DUI makes IMO the best dry suits for the dive industry. I haven't had the pleasure of owning one but owners have uniformly spoken of their quality. Plus our Spec-ops guys like em and thats god enough for me.

That being said they make waterproof bags for a bunch of applications.

You may want to check them out. If they don't make one specific to your model, I would guess they have something that would work.

Zip-Lok freezer bag for a handgun, you don't even need to take it out of the bag if you need it in a hurry.

I forget the brand, but I got a waterproof hard case in bright yellow at a kayak store for $25.00. It will float with a 1911A1 in it.
