In February I bought a Remington Custom Shop Model 7 MS .308 on one of the broker sites. The bolt face was damaged. I researched all my options and decided to send it to Remington. They said the extractor area was beyond repair and the chamber was damaged. Needed a new bolt and rebarreled/chambered. Cost $544 + shipping. I asked since it needed rebarreling could I have it in a .260 instead of 308 they said yes same $. Got an email from Remington yesterday the rifle has shipped and there will be no charge.

Nice ......... Good service is good.
I always wanted one of those in 358Win, but 35Rem would be cool as well.

Was this rifle new or used?
If new, I would expect warranty should cover everything. If used, it depends.
Anyway, glad they didn't charge you the $544.

They haven't been #1 for half a century for no reason.

Great bonus for you, glad that one had a happy ending.
On the other hand, how did that one leave the factory?

Mike Out of all the 700's that I have purchased one of the worst offenders was a CS KS . The braindead person that fired it could not have possibly thought it was OK. NIB rifle that was sent back and it took them 3 months to fix.

I bought the rifle used on gunbroker. When I received it in Feb the bolt would not close on factory loads. Looked like a botched Sako extractor job and then shot blowing the extractor/chamber. Seller claimed it was fine when he shipped it. I sent it to Remington. I do not want to rehash what I shoulda/coulda. It all worked out. Yay Remington!
