Getting ready for the rafters.

Actually, the rafters are all up and the whole building is covered with big blue tarps tonight, since we are supposed to get 3 inches or more of rain! Will post more pics when the tarps come off.

Just lurking here. Nice construction project you have there. If you don't mind, what is the vertical dimentional lumber on the sides? Are they the finished siding or an underlayment? Is this a custom of New England construction or your Idea? I have never seen this done. Here in Ohio it would be all plywood as the underlayment. Also, are you going over the ridge board or onto it with the rafters? Then the suport boards removed? I just enjoy seeing how things are built. I've done a little myself.

Gobblerforge, The siding is 1x12 pine going to have1x3 batten strips nailed over joints, the 2x8 rafters nail into the ridgeboard which is the roof backbone metal roofing going on top going to be 2 porch roofs added on each side will kinda look like a Amish style barn. Looking good, will you have a gun range set up so you can shoot off the porch, for sighting in and such. John

My brother has a 200 yard range across the way up to his camp ,I yousta' have 100 yard range down back but there's a horse farm across the river now so i dont shoot here now unless a deer steps out that is. HD, no shrine just a safe place fire protection, theft protection, insurance aint worth squat on antique firearms plus the building adds equity. The electirician got half the wiring done on Saturday and should finish on Monday. Then it's on to the insulation, followed by the interior tongue and groove.

More refined? In these parts, only the best get metal roofs. What could possibly be more refined?

Very sweet, Don!
