My gunsmith handed this too me, bought 3 of them and told me if I find a rear sight for this one, I get to keep one of the others as my finders fee. Any help would be greatly appreciated. What is it? Any idea on values? Location of a rear sight? I believe this is the sight I need?

What exactly is it?

I believe that is a mauser, perhaps a 30's vintage between wars mauser. From the logo. That would appear to be the correct sight depending on the specific model. I would have to go look, as i have one, and the sight looks right for the one i have. I think it was mitchell that wrote the book on mausers and most of them are in there. good luck on the sight, they are not exactly common. Excellent excellent shooters by the way. I popped a coke can at about 70 yards with the one i have first time i shot it offhand. That is not exactly a cheap gun, if it's what i think it is.

Looks like a Mauser ES350B (there was also a repeater version, the MS350B). These were made between about 1935 and 1939, and they were the top of the line for Mauser .22s. A nice find.
The rear sight clamps to the dovetail on the barrel, and its position can be adjusted fore and aft to suit the shooter's preference. I have no idea where you'd find one though, and I suspect it would be a real challenge.
You could of course look for a peep, or perhaps ring mounts, suited to the dovetails on the receiver, to get it shooting in the meantime.

I suspect someone took the original sight off and replaced it wit ha scope using a standard 22RF mount

Any idea on values? Location of a rear sight? I believe this is the sight I need? I don't know the model number, but a freind had one when I was in high school; that's a damn fine .22. And yes, it's a tangent rear sight on a dovetail, that much I remember. Well, that and the fact that is shot circles around my beloved Winchester 1890. Okay when it comes to esoteric European Sporting rifles, this is who I'd call. If they don't have it, they may be able to head you in the right direction. http://www.simpsonltd.com/index.php?cPath=350_370_371

the other poster got it right on the model number, there was a single shot, which mine is, and they did make some mag versions. As i said between the wars, and typical of the commercial mauser high quality. My sight is identical to the one pictured, still on the gun. Mine was modified by the addition of the lyman rear, and lyman front sight with replacible reticules on the front. I don't know where you would find that rear sight either, but would suspect if you do it ain't cheap. I included a picture, cellphone, of the left side of barrel/reciever where you can see the german nominclature. With those lyman sights on it, it was the one i was saying minute of popcan at about 70 yards. I haved trolled on the net for values, as i don't intend to ever sell mine, but i would guess they are not cheap. don't be discouraged on the sight tho, it took me 20 years to find a sight for another rifle. And i don't even want to get into another project, a cherry mint condition WWII german trainer barreled/reciever. I need all the parts to hold it in a replacement stock i had cut.

it's interesting but just looking at the rifle you would not see those freckles on the bolt. It was rescued from a damp highaway place stored by a prior owner, i found it just before it was gonna go. I have oiled it repeatedly and i guess time to go at it again.

Mauser may have sold these rifles over here at one time, probably did, but i think many of the ones you see are souvenier guns brought back by G.I.'s

Saw the exact gun at the market a few weeks ago. Magazine gun and the rear sight was there. Believe that the asking price was $400.00, btw the seller indicated that it was a training rifle....
