Was recently handed a couple of shotguns for inspection and cleaning by a fella that received them from an old neighbor.

One is evidently a German made semi-auto 12 ga. with the name "Rheinmettal Nr4" stamped on the left side of the receiver. Other than a low number serial #, no other markings except proofs. It looks somewhat like a Browning A5 and the plain barrel (no rib) removes as a Browning. It has a european small cheek rest carved into the buttstock. The buttpad has been replaced with a commercial rubber pad.

The second is a Spanish made SXS 12 ga 3" mag chambering with "EIG-Ebair" stamped on the barrel. Has an apparent alloy receiver with top cross-bolt lock and dual gold or brass plated triggers. A beavertail forearm with a push-pin release. The wood is a light colored euporean walnut. A very plain hard plastic buttpad and pistol grip cap. The checkering and engraving is executed with some runovers.

Have looked in the Blue Book of Gun Values and several other gun collector books to no avail. Any info would be greatly appreciated, along with a guesstimated price range.

Thanks -

With guns like these, some photos would be a big help.

Eibar, Spain is the center of the Spanish gun trade. I don't recognize the maker, but the quality indicates it is an inexpensive gun made for export. I would ask $300 and settle for less.
