So, just when did being born at post war become derisive ?
Me 1943, nothing anyone can do about when, or where we were born.
Divide, divide, divide.
Deride, deride, deride.
Decide, decide, decide.
We need to treat people like individuals whenever possible and avoid Satan's trap of divide and get groups pitted against each other. We're seeing how that plays out right now in America. It's a trap.
You technically missed being a Boomer by 3 years.

I missed being a boomer by 4 months...... whew!
I was born right in the middle of the boomer infestation. 1954. Happy to have had parents that were of the greatest generation. My Dad was a WW2 vet, 1st gen American and proud of it, he enlisted in November of 41 before war was declared. Spent the whole war on fighting on Japanese islands.
I guess that Wabi is a rounding error. It's ok by me if he want to join the Boomers.
i think its because the current crop of f ukktards in power are boomers. and boomers were just getting rolling when this country started going downhill in the mid-60's and accelerated in the 2000's when they got the reins. but boomers are also responsible for some of the greatest things we have. i'm a tail end boomer myself and manage to keep things in perspective. the late 60's-late 80's pretty much sucked in this country. divisive politics, declining economy, high interest rates, inflation, herpes, disco, schitty cars, loss of jobs, etc. these days its different, maybe worse in some ways but better in a lot of ways. but its easier to hate. hate feels good.
Wabigoon,
I’m pretty sure you’d have turned into a dumb fugk regardless.
LOL

He might have been fighting along side my dad. He enlisted also. Was wounded on Okinawa a few months before the end of WWII.
Boomers couldnt vote for Kennedy in 60 or LBJ in 64.
Previous generations of such "high esteem" did.
Thanks alot..... the schitt show of today rest fully in their hands.
One issue voters who fell for The Camelot schitt and the Great society schitt...
And Nixon was sweating on TV during that 1st ever televised debate...
Not to also mention all the democrat election fraud in Illinois, and Chicago, and 11 other questionable states in the 1960 election.
That schit was all spun away too......
In the 60’s.
Your generation is not judged on an individual’s merits.
AZmark: I am not only happy and proud to be a "baby boomer" (born July 1947!) I am LUCKY to be born at all.
My father (may God now rest his soul!) was also a WW II veteran - he was seriously wounded and taken prisoner by the Germans.
Luckily he was eventually liberated and sent to Paris where his wounds were first treated and he began recovery.
So each day I begin by thanking my being here at all - and enjoying the freedoms and liberties that WW II Veterans made possible for "us".
Proud "baby-boomer" in Montana!
Hold into the wind

Ok,Boomer isn’t ok you old retard born between x and y.
It simply means ok,you old retard we get it you’ve managed breath and eat long enough to live past your prime.
Getting old isn’t an accomplishment and it gets old listening to old farts talk about how they’re better simply because they are old.
And those same old [bleep] are from the same generation that failed to secure a free and prosperous America for the younger generation they love to bash. Because it was easier to just go to work and go along to get along than it was to stand for something.
Excuse me, you aptly named hypocrite, your still immature little baby mind cannot comprehend the accomplishments we Boomers achieved before you were born. Nor do you have any idea who the eff you're trying to berate here. This nation was best in the world - until your sniveling little ass came along. You've done exactly nothing except to vote in Marxists so you could steal for yourself what others have earned. Well, we Boomers who have fought against socialism first hand learned this: your free lunch isn't.
In the meantime, thank you KAREN.
I believe every generation does the best they can, with what they had and knew at the time. It’s easy to look back and judge with crystal clarity.
When conditions forced Parents to decide between two incomes or a stay at home mom, that IMHO was the turning point. When we allowed the gvt education indoctrination system, social engineer our kids instead of educate, that was the point of no return.

Worth repeating. M
Heard the term when I was very young. Then Uncle Sam gave Comp. B and C4. Made perfect sense. Still does.

If you are posting that from you 'puter at work, point taken.

I understood before that. Cherry bombs and M80’s in the trash can. Them steel cans could take some punishment.
The slide occurred when LBJ appeased the Negro..
I think he did it to enslave them all over again, and make them completely dependent on the liberals...in exchange for their votes.
Hypocrite, welcome aboard!
Born in 1985 and proud to be a Boomer.
If you were born in 1985 that makes you a millennial.
It's the baby boomers that were hippies and twisted the path for future generations, granted not all of them but that generation. So to me the greatest generation was the worst at teaching. It amazes me how so few can draw that conclusion for back then, but see the wild youth of today as a result of poor parenting. Gotta go to the source of where things started to turn. There were decades to steer the ship in a different direction before we got to where we are today. Those who want to sit back and cast blame but were along for the whole ride are the ones most at fault. And I'm not talking about specific individuals, I'm still speaking to the generation and that the role of the majority within it. And still the older folks here only care about their portfolio while younger generations are and have been writing for some time if we'll even be able to retire ever. Let alone the current state where we're worried about the survival of our kids and what kind of life they will have.
The slide occurred when LBJ appeased the Negro..

Bingo.
The "women's movement" has been for similar effect. Destroy the nuclear family and increase the taxpayer base. Increase dependence and revenue.

No surprise what I wrote doesn’t apply to you, it doesn’t apply to a lot of members of forums like this.
But it applies to a lot of old white folks in fly over country. Why do you think a lot of the younger generation are weak sensitive lazy losers? You don’t think that falls on their parents and grandparents?
Also I’ve never voted for a democrat, not one time.
Divide, divide, divide.

Absolutely.
As I've seen it used, the term "boomer" tends to be an insult to those who tout blue collar hard work as the sole means to financial stability by the younger generations who seem to be lacking in opportunity.
There also seems to be a component of resentment, as it appears the older generations have used the government to enact socialist legislation to safeguard them as they age, such as social security and health care measures, which won't exist (or which will be value-less) by the time they reach retirement age.
Too late, that dude put you on ignore in case you ring his jowls. 🤪
I would like to say something disparaging about boomers...... but if I did local dirt would put the smack down on me......
My favorite boomers were the Haight Ashbury crowd........ lmao

It’s only an insult if you’re the boomer that was happy to vote away gun rights and let liberalism take hold.
Yes I hunt and fish.

To everyone blaming boomers, Gen X, Gen Y, Greatest (those still among us), any group of people you define solely by being born in certain years, I offer this challenge.
Change the world.
It's that simple. Change the world.
Since you have the horrible example of all of the mistakes made by your greedy and short sighted forebears you have the opportunity to correct all of that in one generation - yours - and create a Utopia. You can vote in politicians who are not self serving liars. You can "educate" the public so they won't fall for those lies and everybody will put the common good well ahead of their own personal needs. Thanks to your efforts every single member of the populace will see and not fall into the trap of voting in politicians who promise largesse from public funds.
You can absolutely stop people who lust for power over others from ever being given power. You can guarantee that large successful companies never dominate any segment of the market, and that monetary support of legislators and other government officials is completely transparent and has no effect on the laws they create.
You have the opportunity to change human nature itself, something no one in no land anywhere in recorded history has been able to do. But you can do it.
Change the world.
We'll check in with you in 2050 and see how you're doing with that.

You’re missing the point, of course nobody is going to change the world and stop the “progression” it’s human nature to want hand outs and be led by liberal policies. Us Conservative minded folks that just want to be left alone are bucking human nature and the trend. It’s why every other country on the planet that is older than Merica is more progressive and sucks whole ass.
But when a generation has failed to even slow down the slide and blames the next generation for that failure, expect the young folks to push back. I’m in my 30’s and I had a great childhood, but any children born now won’t have what I had. And frankly I think it sucks.
Wait, you're in your 30's still living with Mom?

👍 well said. I was overseas when this song came out. Still one of my favorites and still fitting for the times.
Ten Years After
"I'd Love To Change The World"
Everywhere is freaks and hairies, dykes and fairies
Tell me where is sanity?
Tax the rich, feed the poor, 'til there are no rich no more
I'd love to change the world - but I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
Population - keeps on breeding, nation bleeding,
Still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny, bees make honey
Who needs money? Monopoly!
I'd love to change the world - but I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you... Oh yeah
World pollution, there's no solution, institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor, them and us
We'll stop the war!
I'd love to change the world - but I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you... It's called luck
Wait, you're in your 30's still living with Mom?
LOL
You think my WiFi comment was a serious comment?

There are so many connections here. My Dad was also wounded, caught malaria, and was sent to hospital in Aust. He recovered and was on his way back to a base in the Phillipines when the US dropped the bombs, otherwise he may have had to be part of the planned Japan mainland invasion. Had it not been for the bomb there are many of us that would not have been here at all......to Fuuuk around on forums like this.

You must be kidding? No senior would ever get in a pool. The play is an outside kitchen under the awning with a poker game. Manhattan’s and cigars.
Not that it actually matters to accusers here but... life is math and it's funny who gets blamed for what.
Boomers... born 1946 to 1964 18 year spread, 56 to 74 years old. Their voting influence years were 1980, when they got the majority voting numbers, to 2008 if you add the greatest gen with them as a voting block. Responsible for Reagan, Clinton and Bush... not responsible for LBJ, Nixon, Carter... there's 71 million alive still.
By 2008, GenX and GenY(millennials) had pretty much evened out Boomers and greatest in voter numbers.
GenX... born 1965 to 1980, 15 year spread, 40 to 55 years old, 65 million alive.
GenY... born 1981 to 1996, 15 year spread, 24 to 39 years old, 72 million alive... matching boomer voting age since 2014.
GenZ... 8 to 23... 68 million... at least 20 million voting age.
Right now there are about 100 million boomers and greatest gen alive vs about 157 million GenX,Y,Z voting age.
Obama up to this chit isn't on us Boomers. Somehow we get blamed from LBJ up to today...
Yet GenX,Y and now Z could have cleaned the house of boomers in politics since 2008...
You all are getting what your generations are voting for, rioting for, we should be bitching at you.
Kent
And who are the parents of those generations who taught them how to react, behave, think and feel?
Or do they spontaneously raise themselves?
No doubt your flawed rationale let's you sleep at night but it doesn't change what the reality is.
Rationale? those are the numbers they don't lie.
Best you can say parenting is GenX came from us and they are as benign as white toast, my daughter say's that about her own generation, "we haven't done anything, good or bad"
GenY is on GenX.
How many hippies do you think there were? I mean there were some on Laugh'in and a few in school.
I suppose some of us country boys should have banged some of those hippie girls to influence them correctly... but they stank.

The very first thing the first two people in the world did after they made a bad decision was to blame somebody else.
When you’re a grown man, your decisions are yours. Own em’.
Most of us boomers had lots of fun - - - or so I'm told. Now if I could only remember it.
An interesting thing about generations is how they become segmented.
Meaning, guys on the front end of Gen X will have specific tastes and disdain for certain things that guys on the ass end of Gen X will love and revere.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
God saw you coming Travis.
The most ridiculous aspect of all this is seeing men in their late 50s berating the boomer generation,...trying to sound like millennials.
The generational divisions are arbitrary. They tell us that those born between 46 and 62 are Boomers and they all share a way of looking at the world.
But why couldn't it be that those born between 53 and 78 share a common outlook on the world?,....or 1960 and 1985?
The way that birth years are assigned to generations is totally random.
An interesting thing about generations is how they become segmented.
Meaning, guys on the front end of Gen X will have specific tastes and disdain for certain things that guys on the ass end of Gen X will love and revere.
Hookers and blow can completely destroy this theory.

25 years is considered a generation, but 25 years is much too long to attach a common way of thinking to a group of people. I think 6 or 7 years is about as long a period of time that can be assigned to a common life experience for a group of people. The world moves too fast these days to say that everyone born in a 25 year period get exposed to the same world and develop a common mindset based on that time period.
My wife is was born in 62,...last year of the Boomers. She was a small child when all of the Vietnam war, Woodstock, summer of love, business was going on. Her life's experience is totally different from those born in 1946,...or even 1954.
And who are the parents of those generations who taught them how to react, behave, think and feel?
Or do they spontaneously raise themselves?
No doubt your flawed rationale let's you sleep at night but it doesn't change what the reality is.
The very first thing the first two people in the world did after they made a bad decision was to blame somebody else.
When you’re a grown man, your decisions are yours. Own em’.
Exactly my point. Boomers want to blame the generation they raised. How does that make a shred of sense? It doesn't, in no way shape or form.

I agree with your assessment, yet here we are.
That's it, but what happened was after WWII people starting having lots of babies, so they were called boomers and that started the Gen wars. I don't care what someone's age is, if we have similarities we get along... if someone wants to talk 'Boomers', then let's look at the numbers.
More than anything, after 1980 and the advent of cable TV and Big media, that influenced the next generations more than parenting. Add PC computers in the 90s, social media... a parent has no chance against free porn...

The genuine "Boomer generation", that most people think of when someone names them went on for about 6 years,....JFK assassination to Charles Manson. Those who came of age in the mid 70's had a very different life's experience than those who came of age in the mid 60s.
Boomers embraced materialism full on...... like no generation before.... and downward society spiraled
You can deride "Boomers" all you want, but the fact is that few if any of us voted this Commie cabal into office. You Karens did.
HypoKaren was on its fourth post when it entered this thread. A clear and obvious provocateur (It would probably have to look that word up.) Henceforth, it will not be seen by me.
Blaming Boomers has become a part time hobby of mine, since they have been blaming "Millennials" for nearly two decades, for all the troubles the US has come to see.... like it all started when Millennials started voting....
At the same time, just ignoring it was under THEIR watch, most of US production was outsourced, healthcare and medicine costs skyrocket, public education and college costs explode because of defunding and wages has been stagnant....
Boomers grew up in the best time in the US ever... paid for by TAXES. Only to privatize it all when they grew up, because they didn't want to pay no damn taxes for it. Their parents paid taxes for it, and made sure they grew up in the BEST EVER economical period that any country has ever seen.
Boomers wanted low taxes instead, voting for Politicians who made it possible to outsource with impunity.. just as long as they gave them a tiny tax break as well. Boomers wanted low taxes and privatization. And they got it...
Results... outsourced production sector, low wages, no immigration laws from EITHER party, because privatization trumped everything... and both of them keeps wages down.
Education Boomers could pay of with a summer job back in the day, now costs hundreds of thousands of dollars because of defunding.... but its Millennials fault.
Healthcare that should cost HALF of what it does today, if the US just did as every other 1st world country... but its Millennials fault.
2008, which nearly broke the back of the Millennials in their start up years... caused by negligence and dont give [bleep] attitude from the Boomer generation... but its the Millennials fault.
20 God Damn years of war, that the Millennials have had to fight in....
And all the while, Boomers have secured themselves in their "golden years"... while their Children, the Millennials have inherited a massive beast of underfunded liabilities, because Boomers didn't give a [bleep] about paying taxes. They are just sucking the teat dry of the last thing the Greatest Generation left them... a nearly functioning welfare state.
But... its all Millennials fault.
.
And who are the parents of those generations who taught them how to react, behave, think and feel? Or do they spontaneously raise themselves?
Regardless of how I was taught to react, behave, think and feel, and regardless of how I was raised...once I became a grown man, my decisions were mine. I own em’. And blaming my decisions on anyone else is irresponsible.
Millenials are worse than boomers....

Boomers didn't have voting majority till 1980... Reagan.

1947 + 21years = 1968..
So.. Boomers started to vote in 1968 and out...
And since Nixon, there have been a stream of Republican Presidents (including Clinton) that was very happy to Privatize and outsource and do nothing about immigration.

Reagan sent a letter urging congress to ban “assault weapons”, working with Clinton while he did that.

I think they were called the silent generation.
No, you won’t.
Some people only respect old age in a bottle.
Why would someone join a forum just to insult 80% of the members?
Seems odd. Do you hunt and/or fish? Introduce yourself, newbie.
It’s only an insult if you’re the boomer that was happy to vote away gun rights and let liberalism take hold.
Yes I hunt and fish.

Listening to all the blame thats getting put on the boomers, the millineals, the x's and y's reminds me a whole lot of what the democrats have been doing for the past 4 years and thats blaming Trump for everything. So I guess that makes all you fools here blaming someone else a DEMOCRAT!
Go ahead....put me on ignore.

Because none of the younger fugktards blaming boomers know what the hell they're talking about.
Your generation is damn near voting unanimously for something they don't even understand because they think they're gonna get some free schit out of it and transfer wealth from somebody who has worked their ass off for it for the last 50 or 60 years. Why? Because most are too damn thick-headed and lazy to do a little research on their own and look behind the fake news facade and lies.
YOUR GENERATION IS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING IN THE DESTRUCTION OF MY COUNTRY. And Yeah. That fugking bothers me.

Possibly it’s regional, around here there’s as many old farts that love them some Biden as there is younger folks. The only difference is the old farts voted for Clinton in the 90’s and they still don’t do the math on why the world is the way it is.

Northman,
To be fair, while those ideas that you point out appealed to, and were adopted by the ME generation, they weren’t the fountainhead. Shareholder primacy, objectivism, and the Powell memo were the awful ideas propagated by people that were pretty old at the time: Friedman, Rand, and Justice Powell.
I like to cook in cast iron.
Millennials have gotten the shaft so far, they got out of school just in time to start a career in the midst of the financial crisis: some of them got to their feet, and made up some ground and got smacked by COVID fallout. You think this won’t affect the way they vote?
Boomers came of age during a period of prosperity, and could count on wage growth, a rising standard of living, and increasing lifespans for all groups, their parents made this possible. Even the most mediocre boomer was likely to do better than their parents, that was a given. Millennials and Gen Y look at the dysfunctional world their boomer parents will bequeath them (if they ever retire), where all of these positive trends have been reversed, and they’re pissed.

If the millenials weren't such morons and bought into student loan debt to get worthless indoctrinations... but hey the "trades" were below them... feed em cake

Now this I agree with. $100k in student debt and making $30k a year. When they could’ve sacked up, got their hands dirty and be making $60+ with no debt.

You couldn't be more wrong, on every count, every word. The boomer had lower wages and higher competition for jobs at every turn.
You couldn't be more wrong, on every count, every word. The boomer had lower wages and higher competition for jobs at every turn.
The pre-globalization job market was in no way more competitive than what has come since. Nations provided regulated financial markets that kept capital at home, and specifically targeted full employment; this was a time of strong labor protections, and real wage growth across the spectrum. All of these things have since been squandered starting in the neoliberal age that Reagan, and Thatcher ushered in.

Thanks for making my point. Your words: pre-globalized markets were smaller. The population "Boom-er" caused a glut of low skill people available. The competition for housing was worse yet. Prices were extremely high as early as the 70's. The Boomer's had to qualify for mortgages unlike the millennials of today that live on junk REIT bonds. Most Boomers have had to retrain several times in their career’s due technology changes. The Millennials have had a secure job a Micky D's the entire time. I would like extra ketchup for my fries.

Mortgage rates 14% - 20% at the peak of the Carter recession, gas lines..... oh yeah fun times
The early Boomers had better job opportunities than the later crop of Boomers. But they also had conscription and Vietnam to contend with. The "generation Jones" Boomers, those that were born in the mid 50's and later came of age right when the Arab oil embargo shot gas prices from 35 cents a gallon to $1.00 a gallon. That might not sound like much to anyone who wasn't there. But it caused a fairly significant economic upheaval. Among other things, it caused that idiot Jimmy Carter to mandate a 55 mph nationwide speed limit. Jobs were hard to get, also,...major recession, high interest rates, and inflation.
I was a young man without a lot of political insight back then. Jimmy Carter opened my eyes to Democrats. I ain't had no use for the sonsabitches since.
WTF is up with liberal canuks sturring up chit all the time?
Primarily USA envy I suppose.

I ran a small independent tire shop when Carter was present. There were days when the only person walking in the door was the mailman and that bass turd brought bills. I bought my first house at 12%. I was a rookie fireman scared chitless when I signed on the dotted line. Then Reagan got elected. We got a decent contract raise and I got a step raise. 6 months later I refi'd my house down to 9% and thought I was chittin' in tall cotton. All my best years on the job for raises were during Republican presidential terms.
Which Boomers are you talking about?,......those who were one year old in 1947 or those who were one year old in 1963?
Those starting to vote in 1971...
Funny. You dumb fugkers think anybody born before 1980 is responsible for the entire cache of the world's ills.
Yet, you're the idiots that brought us obama. Suck on that.

You can thank democrats for that.
Are you kidding me?
Do you think the last recession was the only one?
Read some history, dude. And stop being so self-important.
Believing your own press is what gets most politicians into problems. You have mastered the craft.
You just proved full-on entitlement for your tard card.
I guess I don't, "get" this generation, against, generation.
I have, and do have friends of all ages.

Thank you. Me either. But, if attacked..
I forgot about the peanut farmer days. I was forced into wage giveback. It cost me 20k that never returned. Today I drive past a dozen signs looking for workers.

I started my career during the Carter recession...... $3.20 hr with a line of guys behind you waiting to take your job...... cry me a fuuckin river.... pussies
Exactly. I started my career in the electrical trade in 1976. Times were much tougher than now. Signing the out of work list at #1256 on the list when jobs came in at a pace of about a dozen a week was pretty disheartening.
7-8 months on the out of work list will do nasty things to a young family, with 19-20% mortgages, there was no room for error.
I hustled my ass off doing small electrical side jobs, and pushing my lawn mower around the neighborhood to make enough to buy food. Couldn’t afford to drink. Turning in returnable bottles and cans occasionally meant buying a 40oz Old Milwaukee or other cheap ass beer.
It's not a generation against war, it's younger blaming older... 'Boomer' has gotten away from the generation definition of '46 to '64, to mean anyone older than the accuser... so it's always the boomers fault.
Kent
'News alert'...
Ted Turner and Jane Fonda weren't Boomers...
The space race wasn't Boomers...
Google and Facebook isn't Boomers...
Biden isn't a Boomer...
Kent
The Boomer generation of '46 to '64 has 18 years, which makes sense as a person reaches maturity at 18. But the next generations have 15, which makes the numbers of boomers a bit misleading in comparison, but whatever.
Voting age numbers is what drives politics... the 'vote'... no generation is immune to the bullchit forced on us by stupid voters, lead by liberal media and hollyweird.
But by the numbers, 71 mil boomers, 68 mil gen x, 72 mil millennials/gen y. That 3 years makes a bit of difference from boomers to gen x, but definitely gen y has the most voting power in history.
Boomer voting came to maturity in about '80, peaked around '96 and had the majority influence with the early gen x voters till 2008.
Since then it's been the gen x/millennial show.
Enough blame to go around, it's been this way since Adam and Eve.
Kent
Kent
Well said, Kent.
This whole "hate the boomers" thing is just a prelude to nationalizing (aka confiscating) those trillions of dollars sitting in those 7 figure retirement funds. Someone's gonna have to pay for the $trillions of new "Government funded" gimme dats thrown out to the country.
Younger folks with little in retirement savings won't care and if they have been brainwashed to accept that ALL people born in a certain time period are evil, greedy bastards deserving of punishment then passage of legislation will be easy and probably readily supported by the majority of people. People love to hate people and it's even more satisfying when that is actively encouraged.
And before anyone nominates me for KOTY (besides the fact that it's still very early for that), even one month ago I would have definitely agreed with you that it's too far fetched.
But watching Congress, Big Tech and the Media - the latter two being the real arbiters of True Evil these days - working so quickly and so completely in sync to totally destroy any dissenting voice or group makes me think this is something we'll see in the next four to six years, or maybe sooner. My best guess is that it will be a campaign plank for 2024 since the economy will have been totally destroyed by then and the Mother f*cking Ass Hole Pieces of Scum Sucking Sh*t, uh, I mean Congress and the President for Life CamelToe will need a scapegoat, and those Jüdische Ratten Boomers are the most visible candidates.
Just spreading more cheer on a Monday morning....
OK, boomer.
Thought I'd save y'all the trouble....
They need a new slogan; add your creativity
1) Defund Police
2) Defund the mother in law
3) Defund the 401K
4) Defund the earned income tax credit

Lol that was absolutely pointless and irrelevant to the question I asked.
Regardless of how I was taught to react, behave, think and feel, and regardless of how I was raised...once I became a grown man, my decisions were mine. I own em’. And blaming my decisions on how I was raised or on anyone or anything else is irresponsible. I’m an adult, continuing to hold someone else accountable for my decisions is not only childish, but it’s also counterproductive; and it doesn’t help me change for the better by making better decisions.
Lol that was absolutely pointless and irrelevant to the question I asked.
You might be afflicted with the syndrome?

Boomers are only responsible for the next generation parenting wise... gen x... gen x grew up in peacetime mostly, only had one short war, the Gulf war... they had it pretty good in the 80s and 90s. Vs boomers fighting in Vietnam and gen y fighting in Iraq. Unfortunately the wars a generation must fight, as in young men fight old men's wars, often define them.
A war doesn't define gen x like the boomers and millennials... the advent of cable tv, multi media, computers, big tech, rap music, sexual identity freedom... define gen x.
With the parenting logic, boomers were great parents, gen x had the best years ever... and parented gen y, who are in control now.

Interesting take. You still haven't answered it no doubt it's uncomfortable. How many times have we seen people post about their kids being liberals or bringing home some manbun wearing socialist hipster they meet in their women's study class? Or making bad choices in general?
News flash, they learned it while growing up, and if you weren't teaching them then someone else was. If you fall into this category I'm guessing it's because you weren't around a whole lot or active in your kids' life while they were growing up. From the sound of it it's because you had to work 3 jobs to pay the bills. Maybe that's it, only you can judge you and where your priorities were then.
I know all the freaks and liberals that I grew up with were that way because of either a defunct home life or not one at all to speak of. Parents were always off doing the own thing. To blame the kids for how they turned out is just passing the buck, ultimately it's the parents. No doubt there are other factors but this one i think is the biggest.
My mom and dad are Boomers and they’re really nice people.

I agree with a lot of this. Each generation is the product of the one before. Also the influence of each time period. The rebellion against respectful good clean living started with the hippies and spiraled from there.
I and a lot of other genXers fought post 9/11, it wasn't a short war.
Yes they did fight but it was gen y that were the 18 to 21 years old, same with the Vietnam war. Problem when you are 18, you fight the war but don't have the voting power as a generation... and that's a bitter pill.
You can also say the lesson of Vietnam gave us many years of no war that hadn't happened in a long time, because of the boomers.
Kent
My mom and dad are Boomers and they’re really nice people.
Mine too, I'm friends with lots of "boomers". Only they don't blame me for the past elections though or say they were the extension of the greatest generation and everyone younger than them sucks.

I would like to think our kids turned out good also!
Kind of like deflave! No man buns though.

No, they thought it went well with the skateboard and cargo shorts.
Most boomer's kids are 40 to 55,,, don't think many of those daughters brought home guys with man buns... maybe ponytails... which was my point.

I'm responsible for how my kids turn out, same as everyone. That's my point and the only point I've tried to make. Despite being as clear as I can be you still can't grasp that. Perhaps that is the source of your anger?

Correct, I was referring to posts members have made here, not specifically directed at boomers. The point was parents who were disappointed in their kids but not accepting they might have had something to do with it.
I’ve seen some good bitch slaps on here, but this one ranks right up there.
Right, most, I'm a boomer and my daughter is a last year gen x, 1980.
Again somehow boomer has gotten extended well before and past '46 to '64.
Boomers didn't eat dog food, that was something you heard about in the 70s, old people in the 70s weren't boomers.
Cable TV wasn't created by boomers, Ted Turner CNN wasn't a boomer... yet The facebook guy is a millennial... and somehow both are boomers fault.
Boomers didn't start the blame game, it came to us.

Boomer isn’t an age or a specific generation when used in the context of ok boomer.
It’s not specific to baby boomers like a lot of you guys seem to be associating it with.
It’s anybody older than the person saying it that’s being an old fart.
Younger coworkers and cousins will ok boomer me.
Theodore Beale (Vox Day) has been dumping on boomers for a long time. I commented on his blog about 10 years ago and told him if he wanted to slam the boomers to go right ahead, but by the time anything comes of it, he'll be considered a boomer.
Millennials and Gen Z people occasionally refer to him as a boomer these days. He goes nuts when it happens.

That’s what my whole point was, boomer is a mindset not a generation in most context now.
Makes zero sense that anyone got butthurt by my post.
As to raising kids 🤷🏻♂️
This boomer raised three, daughter has some tats, but she’s hard working, saving & trying to get ahead.
My two sons, never any long hair, no tats, no saggy drawers trying to be a wigger, even though they played ball in hs with many black guys that liked that fashion statement
All 3 vote for right wing candidates
I feel bad they are so outnumbered by idiots in their generation.
I’m responsible for how my kids were raised, well & of course their mom as well
They range in age 22-31
I can only do what I can do
I feel good about our kids & they still like to hang w us 🤷🏻♂️
Better to be lucky than good I reckon

I understand when someone 39 or younger calls someone older a boomer... I find it ironic when someone in their 40s and 50s say's boomers are responsible for today's wild youth and haven't figured out they are the 'new' boomers, us old boomers have been pushed back of the bus.
My wife's sister is 61 and her daughter, my niece is 18, only child and miracle baby... so boomer to gen z, combinations possible over the generations.
She's my favorite niece, I'm her favorite uncle. Since a child she has come from California, where she lives, out here to fish, camp, shoot guns, ride horses. When I go there it's the beach, maybe a fishing charter, a stop at the guitar store for sheet music. Couple weeks ago we went there and I bought her a new guitar as an upgrade to the cheap used one I got her a few years ago, since she has stayed with playing.
Last year she wrote a pro 2A article for her school paper, she took some flack but didn't back down. Her boyfriend is a Trump supporter same as her and they have gotten some snide remarks on facebook but she stands tall. She has never shot a gun in california just here, her parents don't own a gun.
People are who they want to be more than where they live or even raised.

Must be a generational disconnect...
I’ve seen some good bitch slaps on here, but this one ranks right up there.
Perzactly.
LIKE button.
My mom and dad are Boomers and they’re really nice people.
Did your wife's parents complain about your man bun?

My in-laws love Flave.

They may be using the term AFTER you leave the room.
LOL

Robert Oppenheimer was a big boomer.

He would have to put his cane down to do it......
An interesting thing about generations is how they become segmented.
Meaning, guys on the front end of Gen X will have specific tastes and disdain for certain things that guys on the ass end of Gen X will love and revere.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
God saw you coming Travis.
It's been "the last days" for 4000 years. Human nature has not changed since Abraham, I don't mean Lincoln.

Travis is right, the early gen x are much more like the late boomers. Besides the divide in generations at the end of WWII, there is a divide of boomers from vietnam. I grew up with Vietnam on the nightly news, I knew I would be going when I hit 18, I was told by older vets like my dad to enlist rather than be drafted, I wasn't scared, figured it was how the world worked. I had and still have all respect for those that went, they were the older brothers of my friends, older guys in church, some didn't come back alive, people I actually knew.
Then the war was over when I was 15, registration was over when I was 18, those same vets told me not to bother with the military as it was peace time and crowded. Now first semester of college my buddy wanted to be an AF pilot so we went down to the recruiter and talked, I wanted to see what college benefits were available, spent some time down there and was told it was pretty full at the time but they would call in the future, never heard from them. I wrote it off and my buddy did get in after he got his BA and became a pilot.
So coming to age in the 70s vs the 60s is a much different experience than my older boomer breatharian, they fought war and a hostile homecoming, I had peace.

Yeah the brackets are pretty silly.
And nothing to get worked up about.
