What's on the menu? We're starting with herring in cream sauce, deviled eggs, shrimp cocktail and assorted cheeses, crackers and nuts. Dinner is a fresh roasted turkey and venison loins, mashed potatoes, corn, biscuits and gravy. Apple pie and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Just finished cooking ribs for tomorrow, steak for tonight in the pit. There is nothing like steak, ribs or chicken cooked with mesquite. We will have squash casserole, deviled eggs, sweet potatoes, cream corn, pecan pie.

I’m skipping Nana’s chrismuss breffust. Her 5am precooked then cold at 10am eggs, nasty red eye gravy with 1/4” leathery skin atop, fried potatoes cooked in 3 year old crisco poured back into a metal coffee can and stored under the sink.

The magic is always in the brown speckled shredded lettuce. Standard whopper.

I even went no cheese, no mayo, no tomato

Just finished fried oysters, steamed shrimp, twice baked potatoes, coleslaw, mac and cheese, corn. Red velvet and rum cakes.

Oyster stew ham from the oven and sweet potato rolls from scratch a few bud lights to wash it down and kids home made Christmas cookies after the Santa myth is over sleep till 9 am in the morning

CAB round eye roast prepared in EVOO/garlic salt/cracked black pepper in a casserole dish over red potato's/green onions/rosemary/thyme/green bell pepper/carrots, Southern mustard potato salad, jalapeno cornbread.

7lb rib eye with out the bones, brussel sprouts in the pressure cooker, green beans, some kind of funny bread, and a couple kinds of salad. Finished off wit pumpkin pie slathered with Cool whip.

Oh yeah, And a whole platter of deviled eggs as only my wife can make.

Mom would always make Succotash, which is just Lima beans and corn with lots of butter for our Holiday vegetable dish.
Of course along with a heap of mashed potatoes covered with gravy. And of course, deviled eggs, pecan pie, and lots of homemade Christmas Candy.

A salad with more ingredients than I can list, a two bone rib roast cut into 2 pound-and-a-half ribeyes (charcoal grilled), portabellas in wine sauce, baked sweet potato, and cold cranberry salad for dessert. And of course a nice Merlot.

Gonehuntin, excuse my ignorance, but what is sSouthern mustard? Never heard of it.

Harvard beets, Rolls, probably something else.

Tomorrow at my tribe's,
Same pretty much, except the Old Lady is making baked corn to take,
And Mom will have red beet pickled eggs, and several of her pickles in a dish.

Homemade ravioli, meatballs, sausages, and sauce, with toasted Italian bread dripping with butter and garlic.

Had the big meal for Christmas Eve supper with the wife's family
Turkey, ham (thanks to those who recommended the Cure 81 a while back) and assorted Scandinavian style creamed vegetables.

Don't know all of what will be there but here goes:brisket,ham,Pinto beans,potato salad and fresh baked rolls.

I figure that would be enough but who knows.

Butter garlic herb crusted prime rib

Last night we had pasta with clam sauce with bay scallops,lobster,jumbo shrimp,baked stuffed clams,crab cakes,salad.
Today ,we'll have standing rib roast i've dry aged in the spare fridge for 6 days,twice baked potatoes,mashed turnips,Brussel sprouts with bacon and onion,and Grandpa is bringing his excellent potatoe salad.Then pumpkin pie apple pie,and whatever family brings for dessert.We're missing my oldest daughter and her boyfriend,both had covid,are better now,but need to stay away untill New Years.Thats it,only 8 coming this year,usually alot more.

I took some cooking instruction from SandBilly for our Rib Roast.

It turned out great ! The wife, who has traveled the world many times and eaten Prime Rib at Michelin restaurants, said it was the best rib roast she has ever eaten.
