The amount of "true" Conservatives here wouldn't fill a minivan.

A politician who stumps like a televangelist isn't my idea of a conservative. So if Cruz gets people waiving their arms in the air with that wide eyed stairy look so prevalent with the Sunday evening gospel crowd, they are free to believe he is the second coming. For many of us, we can smell the stink and we ain't buying it.



For myself, I don't care about the homos or abortion. I want someone who will get the government's hand out of my pocket and my life. It's as simple as that.

Our government had been doing the brain washing over time. With all the free stuff and entitlements. Which have been used by elected officials to buy votes to keep themselves in office/power. Originally some of the programs were to give folks a hand up , not a handout , to get people thru a bad time they be going thru. Now it's just plain handouts and creating a lazy bunch of people just looking for free stuff. So many people today have no self pride in being responsible and supporting themselves.

Conservatives on the campfire. Hmmm. I think I agree with the minivan analogy. This place is packed, stuffed, with either liberal thinking sportsman, or govt plants.

And he has it playing on every T V news channel.

Surely there is a true patriot out there with a cartridge, rifle, and opportunity.

Lots of fools, and people being fooled in this election cycle I fear. And that includes people on both sides of the curtain. It's less an election, I fear, and more of a brainwash competition; there's no shortage of sources trying to ply their brand of brainwash.

I don't chime in on many of these political threads, but what the heck. For background, I am as conservative as they come. However, I think getting a republican in the White House is more complicated than most of us realize. Getting that right mix of values, speaking skills, looks, clean closet, etc etc is hard to find. We can't just run out the most conservative (I know we would like to) if that person isn't electable. So then what? Some turn to a different mix, some stick with a conservative who will lose, some go some other direction and we end up with a moderate leaning candidate which ends up fracturing the party (and losing). The key to beating the democrats in my humble opinion, is find a person who holds the conservative values that we hold dear AND who is a charismatic speaker who can articulate his/her positions that doesn't turn off the middle. Like it or not, we need a sizable percentage of the middle in order to win the election. I detest Obama, but I begrudgingly have to admit, he was able to speak to both his base and enough of the middle to win. Trump did the same. However, I fear Trump has lost the majority of those in the middle that voted for him. I don't have the answer for 2020, but I think that understanding and capitalizing on more than just the candidate's policies is going to be needed to secure another win.

One semi-related question I will ask. As stated, I am as conservative as they come. But there is one issue with the Republicans that I cannot stand. Are you guys all 100% the Republicans-can-do-no-wrong? If not, how do you balance that?
