Unless one is hunting dangerous game, I can see no reason to carry a .375 H&H.....Your PH is responsible for the handling of matters that might require more than a .300 magnum which most hunters probably are carrying.

I used a .300 H & H on my plains game hunt and was totally covered for anything that came my way. MY PH also carried a .30-06 (which is nearly equivalent to most .300 magnums) (BTW the .300 H&H isn't as popular in Africa as I thought it would be.....the .30-06 is king there.

If the carrying of a .375 is required to feed one's ego or sense of tradition then have at it.....it's a fine kudu, zebra, Gemsbok, wildebeest, eland, etc rifle and many of them aren't horribly heavy.....besides, your tracker entourage will carry the rifle for you most of the time.

As a matter of practicality, one would be better served using a .375 H&H in Alaska while fishing. He just might have to persuade something large and brown that you truly aren't abusing his favorite salmon fishing hole.
