I haven't washed any wool in decades too, and I wear a lot of wool shirts, sweaters, pants, etc. When stuff gets a little "gamey", off to the dry cleaners it goes. I'm not going to risk screwing up woolens by home laundering just to save a couple bucks at the cleaners. Ditto cotton dress shirts- for $1.50, no washing, drying, starch and ironing. Heck, the only thing I run through the wash are jeans, underwear, and socks. High tech long johns get washed gently, and air dried.
