I picked up a half-dozen Pendleton shirts last Winter for from about $30 to maybe $60. They are machine washable and dryable, but I hang them to dry anyway as the ones I owned years ago gradually got short in the sleeves. They come out great. I much prefer the wool to cotton flannel, chamois, or fleece. I also have a Cabela's washable wool coat that washes well. My other wool stuff gets dry cleaned or just aired out.
