Both my son and daughter prefer the 243 so they typically grab both of mine for hunting season and casual shooting.
I probably won't share the 25-06, likely won't shoot it past 500 yards at anything but a coyote and likely won't even put a 1,000 rounds through it in my lifetime. So most of your observations don't apply to my use but interesting info. The old Conquest has been used to kill a pile of deer and elk when it was on my 7 RM longest shot at 513 on a big boar with 150 grain TTSX so it should still be OK on a 25-06.
