Generally, but once word spread, they have been getting sold in large numbers to other states as well. Michigan followed Indiana in writing up the law for straight wall cartridges. Only defines a straight cartridge with a minimum caliber of 35, minimum length of 1.16", and maximum length of 1.8".

Ohio has a much more sensible approach, actually listing cartridges that can be used, including the 45-70, 444, 45-110, etc.

What some people have done is shorten the brass on 444 or 45-70 cartridges and use that. That brings complications with loading, crimping, bullet jump, etc.
