Imo, the biggest advantage though over the WCF is handling. The compact, short action, really does make a very noticeable difference in the field. This, plus the weight savings make it such a joy to carry and shoot. We're all in in the 270 WSM.
I've tried both action sizes and haven't seen the "very noticeable difference in the field" weight and handling advantage as of yet.
The SA is only about 3/4" shorter. The advantage is minor and only really useful when one is building a serious lightweight rifle where every ounce counts.
