I've never even considered shooting a deer at even half that range, but the opportunities are there. Farthest one I've killed was a couple yards under 400. I wanted to run the 140gr accubonds, but the rifle seemed to not like them. However it loves the 130 accubonds, and it runs them at 3375-3400fps with rl17. Approximately 10 deer and an elk later, and I've got no complaints. Nothing has traveled far enough to mention after being hit. Have recovered 2 bullets, one from the elk, and one from a large buck. Both were perfect mushrooms, with around 70% weight retention. Not much more to as for as far as a deer rifle is concerned.


Try the 140 grain Bergers.They really shoot in my Tikka.
