I killed a couple of deer with the Hornady 117 gr. round nose out of a .250 20" barrel ultra light. I was only getting around 2,600 fps.
The deer would make a mad death sprint for about 50-60 yards and then crash. Little internal damage.
Never could figure out the little round nose...
Weatherby loads it in there .257 Mag factory load. It is also recommended for the 25-35 Win. Quite a velocity window ?
