Went back and re-read the article and wanted to note your quote is correct. 34.0 grains with a 170 grain bullet, NOT 36 as I had mis-remembered.

Went out last week with some bulk 150 gr. Remington RN bullets and 35.5 gr. of RL-15. First 4 shots went into a cloverleaf that measured exactly .408"! Of course, the next four shots went into about 1 1/2, but it sure is a "Holy S---!" moment watching that first bughole being created. grin

Am going to try Alliant's top load of 36.0 RL-15 with a 150 this weekend just to see what it chronographs. Even though this Marlin could take it, I'm pretty content to sticking with 34.0 RL-15 and 2200 fps which is a very mild load but still gives great accuracy.
