OK, I guess, if you really feel the need to push the .30-30 to the max. However, I personally don't see the need, or really the purpose, of putting myself through the suggested ballistic gyrations just to push the .30-30 into .30-40 Krag territory. I've used the .30-30 a lot and it always worked perfectly at factory load velocities. I've got other guns that shoot flatter if I think I need it.

Maybe the author hasn't noticed that they sell .30-06s all over these days.
