I'm not inclined to push my .30-30s as hard as Paco, either. But he's right on this score: it remains a hugely undervalued performer.

All my rifles (several Marlins and a Handi-rifle) do so well with factory ammo, that I'm often too lazy to "roll my own". The Handi, in particular, will routinely put three Remington 150's into an inch or less @ 100 yards. And that 150 gr. Core-lokt is a wonderfully tough, effective deer bullet. I haven't recovered one.
