Looking thru my 7-08AI data, I must have one hellva a slow barrel. Actually I built two 7-08AIs with Pac-Nor barrels (22.5" & 23") Both rifles would not generate over 2950fps with various bullets and powders. I also tried Rem, WW and Lapua brass and Fed 210, WW primers. Bullets were uncoated, even tried the Barnes TSX and still maxed out around 2950fps.
Whats interesting is RL19 data, Nosler shows a whopping 2922fps for a std 7-08 using 140gr bullets. In both of my 7-08AIs, neither would generate over 2800fps with 51gr of RL19. At 53gr of RL19 my 22.5" 7-08AI only generated 2905fps and the fire-formed case would not take anymore powder even with a drop tube.
I don't care for ball powders so I stick to extruded types. I've tried Varget, RL15, RL19, IMR4350 and H4350. Never able to push 140s past 2950fps without pressure signs.
Best load for the 140gr Part were with H4350, maxed out 2960fps. Its still a great round, but I would seriously consider a 7SAUM or 7WSM now that these are out. Heck, I've thought about having mine re-chambered to 284Winnie! But............I'm not a gambler!
