Man, that's one sweetheart of a rifle. My 7-08AI sounds very similiar to "SST"'s.Mines a Sako L579 action with a 23-1/2" #2 PacNor in a MacMillan Hunter pattern stock, built by Bill Leeper. Not light but balances and carrys well.Has a 2.5-8X Leupold in Redfield mounts. I've been shooting 49 grs of IMR4350 under a 140 Ballistic Tip,getting 2975-3000fps.I recently tried some H414 under the same bullet,..50.5 grs rang up nearly 3100fps.It's a real nice cartridge, does everything a 270 or 280 will do, but in a short action. Regarding velocity gain over the standard 7-08,the first time I fired my rifle was with factory Remington140 CoreLocts to fireform some brass.I was shocked to see the chrony read 2900.Firing the standard cartridge in the Improved chamber should lower velocity a bit,not so with this one.And they shot a 3 shot group of .775".Three shot groups of various charges of IMR4350 went .790",.490",.646",.540" and .615".I'd say Bill Leeper knows how to run a reamer..........
