Had a nice job as a corporate pilot until Ron Reagan fired all the controllers, but the ability to get a flight reservation led to the owner selling the plane. Airlines had all the pilots they needed, but the FAA had a few empty seats in the control rooms.

So I made a living telling pilots where to go. Wasn’t a bad job, pay was good, but sometimes I would have rather been back in Nam.

4,000+ hours in the air gives you an idea what the pilots are thinking.
