anything over 200 grains, for the 35 Whelen, you'll loose velocity and case capacity. Heavier than 200 are longer and will decrease case capacity and magazine will not support increased OAL. I have a very short throat in my Remington 760 when loading 180 and 200 grainers have to be seated deeper than usual. Don't know about the marlin though in regards to the throat/free bore. Watch for pressure signs as you test loads, if you need to seat them deeper. Been awhile and if I recall there isn't any data for Whelen bullet weights for the 35 Rem.
