I expect that my 7mm-08 is the same as yours. That's a problem with the 84M's in the 260 also. I think that the lands can be reached in the 243 however.
The cause is the short magazine box that will allow a COL of about 2.825" at best. I wish it were longer too but that's it.
The 8400 in 270 WSM has a long box thats about 3.05" and the standard COL of that cartridge is 2.86". Most bullets will reach the lands at about 2.9" or a little more.
You make a good point and I might experiment with my 260 to see if single loaded rounds that reach the lands shoot better. I must have a thousand shots thru that one and it may have worn some. Have you done so?
