There are always a lot of both stock types (the Specials, Trainers, and UltraLuxes are stocked like a Lux) at our local matches but if you want to shoot a scoped rifle, you should opt for the American.

Range report from this morning's 50 yard silhouette match:

Here are the brand new silhouettes riding on the brand new rimfire racks. We want to say a special thanks to Randy and Ricky King for making the new racks. They are an excellent design and very well made.

The new set up substitutes six little chickens for the original version's six big chickens. To compensate for the higher degree of difficulty and to give folks a little more shooting, we increased the round count from 25 to 30.

We opened the boxes of silhouettes and discovered that Metal Spinning Target Company had included five standing prairie dog silos for free. Perry Willard suggested we put one in each top row and keep the tiebreaker target available (knocking it down is represented by a /1 in the scores below). Great idea Perry and that lets us keep the 50/25 name as well - still 25 targets at 50 yards. Ones score is the number of silhouettes left standing and the low score wins.

Has anyone else noticed what a great optically sighted offhand shot Dave Hollimon has become? I have - Way to go Dave! The perennial iron sight master, Wille Rhodes, shot his way into first place this morning in both open and peep sight classes. Here are the scores:
