I like 10x for big game hunting as well. Maybe my eyes aren't as good as others, but it takes at least 10x for me to get a descent idea of the animals head gear.
Seems like with lower powered optics I can just tell if it's a buck/bull/tom or a doe/cow/hen when they are way out. 10x seems to give me a much better idea if they are worth chasing or not.
