Are you REALLY sure the barrel is "shot out"? Unless the was an avid shooter, shooting lots of ammo through it, most guys aren't going to wear out a barrel, especially a magnum. I would try to clean it down to bare metal with "Shooter's Choice" or something like that and then try some different loads.
