Thanks for all the info guys. I bought one last week: a Browning 30/06 rifle made in 1984 and fitted with a Redfield receiver sight and a nice 1/2" Pachmayr pad. I'll get some pics up next week but it's got some nice figure in the wood and the metal work is very clean.
