When the engine doesn't have much asked of it, it will do what the EPA ratings says it will do. But, if you add things like tires, axle ratios, etc. the mileage can go south easily. Towing makes for the big changes in mileage from what I've seen.
The engine has been a big disappointment. If you really need power to do work, like drive off road, or tow, I'd much rather have a diesel. E
