Are you saying that you could not get a grip on the eye piece and lock ring to remove it? Not even with a rubber gripper can opener type thing?
I believe if I had a grip on the turrets and a grip on the eyepiece I could twist the scope till it looked like a peppermint candy cane. It will come loose before that though.
