DWM Mauser in 7X57MM, an old 3-9x42mm Leupold so old it's turning purple, the old style 175 gr Grand Slams at 2700 fps have never shown themselves to be lacking in accuracy or killing power.

No, I've discussed it with a few knowledgeable gents here on the 'fire before and came to the conclusion I have a fast barrel and long throat on this rifle, 48 grs of IMR-4350 gets my rifle there, a 100 count brass lot is on it's third firing without any undue signs of overstress.
Interesting. That load would generate around 2400fps in any 7x57 I loaded for and the longer throat usually reduces velocity, rather than enhancing it. Enjoy your rifle. John
