After looking at Hodgdon's, Berger's and Alliant's load data I can believe your friend's rifle may very well be at max. Only RL-33 shows a velocity over 2700 fps. Now I am wondering about my friend's load.

Looking around the net there are many who boast higher velocities with their 338 RUMs with 300 gr bullets including he link I posted earlier in this thread. Guess all that can be said is your results may vary.......
