I was a performer in a military band for 20 years. Only took ten to get through a night without feeling like I had the wrong uniform, or couldn't find the gig....

Thanks for all the words of encouragement.

I didn't think I would feel this way because I was damn sure ready to go. I know it will pass.

I have a wonderful wife and have put my 2 kids through college and have a grandchild.

yesterday I started working on the green patch for the deer behind my house. I have my gun collection, reloading and my '68 chevy c10 and '02 SS Camaro to more than keep me busy and having fun.

God Bless All!

1911a1, Relax, take it easy, then get to work on that long list of stuff you have wanted to do for years.
I retired in '06, and never regretted a day of it. smile

Congrats!

And welcome to old geezerhood!

If I'd have known how much I was going to enjoy this, I would have done it sooner.

I just blinked, and have been retired for almost three years now! (GRIN!)

I don't think its sunk in yet what I've done, I still have this weird feeling I need to get to work on some highway plans we're behind on.
I have plenty to do around my place so I'm sure that feeling will pass.

It will!!! I retired from TxDOT in 2008!

Congrats!!! Time to have fun!!

but you haven't really retired, you still are acquiring things that more properly belong in arizona.

Congratulations. I've been retired for almost three years now and that first year was hard. Used to getting to work by 7 A.M. and getting home after dark. Now, I can't wait to get up and do things I love. No day is boring and there is always more to do than time to do it. I hope you enjoy your retirement as much as most of us here do.

My last day will be 12/18, will be moving to Montana. I'm going to buy a small convenience store and sell a little gas, a few groceries, and some beer and booze. Have been working in the mining industry since 1972.
