Splatter said he will figure out what he wants, but I'll give him another choice. Not sure I would want to take it into a Duck/Goose blind. So lets have a little fun anyway.
Perazzi makes a SxS. I've shot one that another fellow has and it handled pretty well. The Italians know how to make a shotgun.
I field hunt out of a layout blind. I get flocks of thousands of birds, ducks and geese. After 7 flocks work my spread, and 7 to 14 shots later, I'm done. It's no longer a matter of gotta fill a limit as it is just having fun.
I'll figure out what I want.
I think an MZ double would make it really cool!
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
Yeah. Think I'm just going to sit back, enjoy the early part of the season with my 11-87, and see what may make for fun. Went by the whorehouse today, and check out that 2800 dollar benelli o/u. Wow. NICE... Nothing else grabbed me.
Shop around for the old Ithaca-SKB line of SxS shotguns (12 gauge and 20 gauge) - they were imported in the 1970's and 1980's (approximately) - good guns in the quality class of a Browning BSS.
These don't seem to handle steel shot to well. My Buddy's is bulged at the chokes from shooting steel. Honestly, I love my SXS's but go to a modern auto for waterfowl, just saying.
I think I've narrowed it down. How's a Remington 11-87, in 20 gauge sound ? Walnut stocks, and Matt finish.
You've gone from a double to a 20 11-87?
If a 20 gauge will suit you, you really should look at a CZ Bobwhite double gun.
I really have no use for a 20 gauge double gun around here, but that little Bobwhite is such a nice feeling double that I almost bought one just to hold and look at.
Can't deal with double triggers. Wife's Mallard, o/u, has doubles, and I prefer a single. I could use her 20, but she'd hang me by my nuts, if I tore it up. I had a Sears Ted Williams, 20 gauge with a poly choke for a long time. Shot a lot of critters with it.
I could just use my o/u, but I'm feelin all giddy to get a new gun. I don't want something I'll be afraid of getting dinged up, nor something I don't care about.
I'm deadly with my 12 gauge 11-87, so might as well stick with what works for me, but just smaller.
Friend of mine bought one of these for turkey and geese. After a full season he literally sold all the rest of his shotguns. He worships the alter of the SX3 3.5 inch.
