Hastings, They've never seen the aftermath - people dying in their arms.

I made my living in the middle of the highway/interstate. You aren’t the only one who has seen things.

And I also more over to let the really fast speeders get on their way. Let them attract the attention of any cop sitting in the median.

Yep, let 'em pass and then fall in behind at a safe distance. Radar screens.

Thank you for recognizing this sacrifice as few have ever done so. Your mother must be somewhat disappointed with her sacrifice. Thanks anyhow.

I worked for several years out of Walton, Kentucky while living on the north side of Cincinnati. I had a considerable commute, and often had to visit warehouses around the 275 loop going and coming. My coworkers talked about the Buckeye Block. That is, a guy with Ohio Plates playing wingman to a vehicle and riding the left lane. It was a real thing. It was remarkably different than the decade or more I had on I-75 commuting to Dayton and back.

The problem arises from Kentucky residents being comfortable driving pretty fast in the fast lane. Ohio Residents tend to be more conservative and are very slow to pass vehicles. As a result, you can get two vehicles really jamming things up with a trail of increasingly irate Kentucky drivers strung out behind.

Yes, it is a real thing. Me? I'm kind of a "When in Rome. . . " kind of guy. My general habit was to let the faster drivers blow on by and let them shake the trees while I laid back a mile or two back and raked the leaves. I drive the AA highway a lot now and tend to stay in the left lane, passing slower traffic, but keep an eye out in the rearview for anyone who wants to pass. There are more than enough Harvey Wallbangers who want to do 80 in a 55 and I'm not going to get in their way.

It's interesting how the morally superior claim that they're following the law by doing the speed limit in the left lane.

There's also a law that says get the [bleep] outta the way.

Try obeying both.
