Got it! Duh...too much hay fever medication today...no, I havent fished it in years, too many people know about it, and access to road is too easy.I pick my creeks the same way I pick hunting spots...if more than one person mentions the creek ( or hunting spot) I don't go there... Ingwe

KK, Thanks for the pic. I'm holed up in the AC cave, doing paperwork and cracking backs. Nice to get a little window into what's happening streamside. Might be able to get an hour or two in before the sun sets at a favorite hole. I know there's a 24" brown in there just waiting....

Yup we are holed up too. Might take the kids to the splash park but It was nice to grab a few cast before the inferno.

OK...theres no friggin way we are gonna let this thread die so soon... After a debacle last week ( went to one of my fave creeks and found it flowing at 3X normal, with color) Ive been watching the stream flow figures for SW Montana. This couple days of heat has really hammered them... Went yesterday to a different creek, it was normal and the fish really wanted to be caught...heading out next week for parts unknown...me, my wife, and Ingwedog..... Takin both the fly and spin rods.... Ingwe

Ya'll will prolly call me a stupid Texan tourist but I've been fishin in trout streams a time or 20 way back up in the hills where the trout are mighty hungry.
We go way up outta the folks' way and get to where casting with a flyrod is impossible.
We use 4 ft. spinnin rods and reels with very light tackle. We've tried lots of baits and have settled on the 1 bait that consistently gets us fish.
A 1/16 oz. silver bladed roostertail with a white skirt...
Caught bookoos of trout with this bait all over BFE...
Flame away...grin...

What ever works. Better to catch fish then get skunked but I have to say casting a fly rod is never impossible even with no back cast. You just have to do a water sustained anchor cast or spey cast. With a spey cast you load the rod on the water so you dont need a back cast. If you can learn these type of cast with a single handed rod then you can fish all kinds of good water people skip right past.

Maybe I should have said "we don't use a fly rod cause we have never fished with one"....grin....
We can get pretty much anywhere with those little 4 footers broken down...

I'm really liking the left side, second row from the bottom, middle....I've always done well with that fly, usually in a size 10 or 12. Also the 3rd streamer from the left, bottom row....another killer pattern, especially when used with the well known slip-sink presentation to make it flutter helplessly.......

On another note, looks like the WE of the 31st isn't in the cards for a Georgetown trip. My wife has informed me that I will take the family camping first and after that I am free to move about the country. Will be heading to Bowen lake for a little family fun. I'll let you guys know when the next opportunity for a Georgetown Campfire Rendezvous rears its ugly head.
