If someone post pics of a Echols or a jarrett rifle and everyone drools over it. Now people say that a custom rifle built by a paying sponsor of this site is not worth 6k. Its got to be something causing all the crap.
Dink Dink, Re the rifle build, I think a lot of folks here have issues because they feel the components used just don't add up to a 6k rifle. For instance, from readings another thread it seems the stock is not an A grade McMillan or Manners, but a B grade B&C. Ditto the optics which are the less expensive Leupold rather than say the more expensive S&B PM2, Premier, even Nighforce..So they tot up the cost of the components used and figure they don't equate to anywhere near a $6K build... Of course that doesn't factor in the cost of load development and the fact the user is getting a ready to go "system" with all the long range work up already done..

Teal if its not jealousy about the rifle price then what is it? I'm sitting 20 feet from a shotgun - used, that if sold, I could buy 3 of John's complete "systems". It's not the price of the rifle. Price tags with many zeros don't faze/intimidate me or give me a hard on. Small men are impressed by high prices. Professionally and privately I've known and dealt with people on that make the Forbes lists - I don't get jealous over money. Most have more than me, that's not hard to do. Other sponsors (or "friends of the fire") have come aboard and been given rough treatment. They responded with much more tact than I've seen John. McMillan had been called out, Sisk was called out, Doug @ Cameraland had to deal with crap and they all dealt with it in a professional manner. John hasn't IMO. Just me, YMMV etc.
