After three hours of wandering around the exhibitors booths, livestock, pig races, birthing pens, eating chocolate dipped bacon and fryed Snickers we were ready to sit down.

When they opened the gates to Reliant Stadium we headed to the "nosebleed" section, on the 6th floor, which were the only tickets I could get for the sold out event.

As soon as we sat down, we were approached by a group of people, including a cameraman. They explained that every night 10 people are selected for a "Randon Act of Kindness", sponsered by various corporations, in this case, Caterpillar Inc. They escorted use to floor level, right behind the chutes, where we were given VIP seating and access.

Thanks Caterpillar!

How COOL is that? smile

Hopefully you will both remember the kindness for a looong time and the fact that you enjoyed each other's company. Good on CAT though.

That's more than I ever received from Caterpillar and I worked for them from 1969 'til they layed me off in 2008 just before the magic one got
elected!
.
Not bitchin'; just making a statement. Almost everyone over the age of 60 was layed off that day! NONE younger!

Was your little gal impressed by the bulls or did you get to be close to them?
My grandson and I were chosen for the VIP treatment a few years ago here at the rodeo but when they found out that he wouldn't be covered by the insurance on account of being too young, we didn't get to go where we would have otherwise. Didn't bother him much but I felt bad for him. But they took us a little farther than they should have so he could get a close up of the bulls and talk to some of the riders.

Quite a treat for kids. And grown ups.

Good on ya.

Man, we go to these little rodeos pretty regular, but it makes all the difference with world class animals. It's pretty obvious we're doing a better job of breeding animals than people when 13 out of 16 World Champion riders can't make 8 seconds.

Sounds like a great time,I bet the people who were sitting by you in the cheap seats were ticked lol.

I got the same treatment at a hockey game once. Went from cheap seats to 2 seats right behind the glass in a little section on a platform. They had lazy boys to sit in and a girl to bring the drinks/food. I went with my dad and we had a great time. They called it the "best seats in the house promo". I think it was sponsored by lazy-boy recliners.

sounds like ya'll had a ton of fun. and chocolate dipped bacon. oh my.

as an aside, remember when the Texas Prison System held the rodeo at the men's prison in Huntsville? attended that one time and had a blast. those starched white unifroms looked really good on those bulls. i reckon that operation has ceased now, though.
