Aside from all the juvenile silliness rampant in this thread, I have some questions. The .375 H&H is a favorite of mine. Thus .....
About the comment "most downloaded" .....where did that data come from? Who said that it is, next to the Rigby (another favorite)?
Load data......80 grs. of 4350.,,and a 300 grain bullet. That is over the max or every published load that I have seen. Where did that data originate?
Also....76 grs is listed as a compressed charge......I have never been able to get even that much in a case without some serious crunching at the end, even with a long drop tube. How do you fit 80 grains in? Velocity for the 76c charge is listed as under 2500 fps. There was mention of 2700...... Was that a joke?

Number 1, look at bcd's other posts and you can see it all rather clearly - he left the reservation a LONG time ago.

Number 2, I bet it would take an awfully fast 26" barrel to get close to that number.

Number 3, I would also wager a 300 grain bullet of a decent construction, whiffling along at 24-2500 fps, would darned near work on darned near anything you'd care to shoot.

The way life should be.

80g of imr 4350 and a 300g bullet out of the old brno is like having a nice cup of Joe. Then we should if we will take it up to 84gs. never enlarged pockets blown primers and o that easy extraction!Enjoy

Is it possible to be more cryptic? That is as much a non-answer as I have ever read.
My question is not about safe loads....it is about the practical reality of putting powder into a case.
76 grains is a compressed load. You now mention 84. How does one get 84 grains of 4350 into a 375 H&H case without damaging the case?
How do you go about this?

Pete

84 gr. IMR 4350/.300 gr. NPT/.375 H&H is 116% of case capacity and will yield 87879 PSI from QL.

Maybe he loaded the 375 Ruger the same way, if he was loading the 375 ruger to 90K and 116 of case capacity it might explain the stiff bolt opening.

I can see 80gr being alright i found a old imr powder manual http://www.imrpowder.com/pdf/IMR_rifle.pdf that has imr4350 max at 78gr. the only way i see 84gr is if the c.o.a.l was left long, but i'm with the rest of you on the pressure would be on the really high end.
