I've got a .303 Brit that is a lot of fun to shoot also!

Article in April 2014 Shooting Times by J. Von Benedikt, doesn't seem to be available online yet.

Pushes 130 gr. bullets to about 3500 ft/sec.

For a 130 gr. Accubond...

Quote
...when zeroed at maximum point-blank range for a 10-inch vital zone, point of impact will be 3.3 niches high at 100 yards, 5 inches high at 300 yards, dead on at 350 yards, 2.9 inches low at 400 yards, and 5 inches low at 425 yards.

Figure on 800 to 1000 rounds of barrel life.

Designed completely as a niche caliber that shoots hot and flat, milking 6.5 ballistic potential to the max.

Recoil slightly exceeds a 30.06.

Probably won't ever find one in my gun safe. However, anyone who has been thinking about a .264 Win Mag might want to take a hard look at the 26 Nosler. A 130-grain bullet with a BC of .488 at 3,500 fps would get my attention.

The 26 Nosler basically duplicates the 270 Weatherby.

6.5 STW will do that.

I haven't crunched any numbers or anything, but it seems the 26 Nosler would be a touch slower than the 6.5 STW and a touch faster than the 264 WM and 6.5x284. That is a pretty small "niche", IMO. I think Nosler just wanted to see their name on a cartridge........

Article said they started by shortening, and then tweeking, a 7mm RUM, no doubt to fit a standard action.

Just checking for comparison sake...

Hornady .308 GMX 150 has a BC of .415

They list for my .300 WM the Superperformance with this bullet, 3400 ft/sec, and 5.1" drop at 300 yds.

No doubt the .26 Nosler is a tad bit flatter shooting...but not by a helluva lot out to 400 yds...beyond which most of us have no business going anyway. Thinking, sighted in accordingly, maximum point blank range for this combo would probably come almost within spitting distance of 400 yds.

Punching in some numbers on Hornady's ballistics calculator...

BC = .415
150 gr.
400 yd max. range
3400 ft/sec

+ 2.7" @ 100 yds
+ 3.4" @ 200 yds
0 @ 300 yds
- 8.2" @ 400 yds
