I'm not going to be hunting any more after today. My sweet little Griffon Rosie died chukar hunting today.
She vanished yesterday, probably went after birds. Owen and I looked for her into the night. We went back today to look for her some more. We and another hunter heard her crying and barking and went to find her. It appears she went off a cliff and fell into a gigantic boulder field on a very steep mountain face. We couldn't get to her, and my wife and I listened to her cries, until there were no more. She's gone.

Good God.
How old was this dog that fell off a cliff?
Eight years old. She and Peggy were connected at the hip. Rosie no doubt flushed birds on the cliff's edge.
I am very sorry to hear of your loss luv2safari. We lost our dog two months ago, still feeling it, so my heart goes out to you sir.
Is Peggy another dog? My favorite Bird Dog of all time was a German Shorthaired Pointer, her name was Peggy.
This Poem helped me when our dog passed, I wish you and your family peace and joy when you remember your beloved dog, Rosie.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Ah man, so sorry for your loss. I haven't hunted birds since I lost my Diggzzz (wirehair) just not the same anymore. Miss those eyes. So so sorry. You'll be together again. GWPGUY. 🐾👣🐾👣🇨🇦
Wow, so sorry. Chasing chukar I've always found half terrifying, for both me and the dogs. I know of other dogs who have taken big falls, suffering serious injury or total loss. But there are others hazards out there too for our hunting partners, with probably water and sharp sticks causing the most losses. I've lost a few young dogs, and it is devastating. Still, I suspect you'll love again....
B….I just saw this and I have no words…. I know how much you loved her and she loved you and your endless hours afield together with Owen…..I’m so VERY SORRY, please pass my sympathies to your wife and Owen too!
My goodness, my heart aches for you guys. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers as usual B.
I don’t think anyone could say anything that would ease a single ounce of grief but from where I sit and watch you and your grandson hunting together, laughing together and just spending time together I know that Rosie is irreplaceable and it’s hard sometimes to see past the pain but you my friend are “RICH”! I know many men that would love nothing more than to have a grandson who loved spending time with grandpa, even if just for a day!
You lost a great hunting partner in Rosie but you still have Owen….
God bless you and if you need anything you know how to get ahold of me.
My sincere apologies for your heavy loss! As others have said, there is a lot to be thankful for in life beyond the despair of losing part of your “family”.
Thought we had the same thing once. Left a jacket on the ground and the GSP was laying on it in the morning. Scraped up and sore, but nothing too serious. We were lucky. Wish they could talk. Never knew exactly what happened.
Once again, my condolences. WPG's are some of the coolest dogs. I hope to have one someday.
I’m sorry for the loss of your dog, most especially for the way it went down. That was awful to read, it is awful to imagine myself in your shoes.
I tried to send you a pm, but I’ve been a bit too abrasive I guess and I’m back on ignore. Regardless, I sincerely send you and your wife my condolences
Yes, a collar would have prevented her from falling AND made her accessible to OP and his grandson. Thanks for sharing something useful in his time of need.
OP, I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Hang in there.
Having nearly lost a dog in a hunting accident and reading what happened with you and Rosie I have a deep understanding of what you are going through. My heart goes out to you and I wish you and your family all the best.
Bruce, I am so very sorry to read this. What a heartbreak. My buddy lost a dog down by Fields, Oregon chukar hunting and said that was it for him. Dog was found dead 40 miles away along the road, emaciated of course. He mourned for a time but eventually it felt right and he got another pup. Hang in there brother.
I’m sorry Bruce. That’s a terrible memory to have seared into your head. As you know it never goes away but it gets easier with time. Hopefully with enough time you can remember more of the good memories that you shared.
I don't know how I could begin to deal with such a tragic loss. Our little Henry has become such a beloved member of our family, and he's only 7 months old.
May God give you the strength to somehow accept that she's gone. She knows that she was loved.

Damn dogs anyway. So sorry for your girl Bruce, and you guys as well. She looked like a helluva hunting dog. Bearded dogs are the best.
The Power of the Dog by Rudyard Kipling
There is sorrow enough in the natural way From men and women to fill our day; And when we are certain of sorrow in store, Why do we always arrange for more? Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy Love unflinching that cannot lie-- Perfect passsion and worship fed By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head. Nevertheless it is hardly fair To risk your heart to a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits, And the vet's unspoken prescription runs To lethal chambers or loaded guns, Then you will find--it's your own affair-- But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will, With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!) When the spirit that answered your every mood Is gone--wherever it goes--for good, You will discover how much you care, And will give your heart to a dog to tear.
We've sorrow enough in the natural way, When it comes to burying Christian clay. Our loves are not given, but only lent, At compound interest of cent per cent. Though it is not always the case, I believe, That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve: For, when debts are payable, right or wrong, A short-term loan is as bad as a long-- So why in--Heaven (before we are there) Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear? ◦
Prayers for comfort to you and your family. Don't know what else to say.
Man's best friend for a reason. Probably not fair to spouses BUT I know that bird hunting, one of my personal passions for many years, has not been the same since I put my last dog down (for age reasons).
Despite the shock, anguish, and terrible circumstances, don't rule anything out going forward for awhile... too early, IMHO. The good memories will endure.

Tough way to lose a dog. As hard as they work it’s kind of surprising that they aren’t hurt more. Horrible shock, to say the least. I’m glad you had each other as long as you did. You’ll hunt again once the shock wears off. Best wishes.

It was my thin skin, and I apologize sincerely.
None needed. I can be a jerk.
For what it’s worth, I find your input is usually on point and interesting. 👍🏼
Sad news for sure. Never hunted with a Griff. I am sure you gave her as much joy as she did your family. Somewhere there is another dog that needs a good home and will bring you a lot of joy and memories. Alan
So sorry for your loss. We all wish for our loved ones, people and dogs, to lead a full life and pass peacefully. It doesn't always work out that way. I hope that the good memories help you find solace.
As my son said "getting a puppy is a tragedy in the making". He lost his last dog about 3 months ago. The kids were pretty heartbroken. He is holding off before getting another one.
Rest in peace Rosie. If dogs can't go to heaven I'm just not going. I want to go where my dogs are.
I hunt a griff named Rosie too. Im super careful chukar hunting, she wears an orange vest, she stays in sight all times, I use an e collar to call her away from dangerous areas and I run a gps collar as back up. hopefully this advice will prevent a similar incident for other bird hunters. I carry rope and a dog sling , to carry out injured dog, too in my back pack. plan for the worst
I almost lost her 3 years ago to an fce (spinal stroke) while hunting in ND. She was in very tall cattails. It took an hour to find her, she was completely paralyzed then had to carry her out back to truck and luckily found an emergency vet 60 miles away. I bought a gps collar after that
I was just now answering a very kind private message and was trying to edit a typo. I somehow deleted everything, and I apologize to the messager. I forgot your handle and would like to reach back out to you.
Brutal. What an awful way to lose a dog. Cannot fathom the agony of having to listen to her down there… horrifying. So sorry.
I’ll never forget my Lab, Lucy, launching off a cliff over a creek after a flushed/hit ruffed grouse… the memory is in slow motion… noooooooo!! She was ok, but the level of obsession bird dogs have cannot be underestimated.
Is it anyway to recover her? Have any rock climbing buddies, friends with rappelling gear? Any rock climbing onion-heads you can whip up down at Starbucks?

The mountain is too dangerous. I was headed to go up, but my wife stopped me. She said she couldn't lose us both. I've been there many times, and a lot of chukar live on the steep face. A lot of hunters hunt the canyon at it's base, but I have never seen anyone on the face or even up it 10-20 feet.
Perhaps in time you can come to see it as she died doing what she absolutely LIVED to do, and is resting on a mountainside surrounded by her great love- chukar. In a sense we should all be so lucky.
We got our first puppy killed via STUPIDITY that still haunts me over 30 years later. Buried Kayla on a hillside in the Cascades. I think of her every time I drive over that pass, go by that hillside. It leaves a mark- as it should. Dogs are pure souls that love us warts and all like nothing else.
That really sucks. My late father once lost a brittany spaniel on a blue grouse hunt in CO. Never found it. He thought a cougar probably grabbed it. He didnt hunt birds for a long time after that.

Luv2safari: I am so sad for you and yours. That is a very tough way to lose such a great friend. But I think, after time goes by, maybe another dog should come along on your Hunts. I think Rosie would like that? Again sorry for your loss. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
Bruce, that's a heartbreaker! I don't know you, and I'm not even a dog guy. But my daughter and son in law are. Their Griffon, Sage, had a beautiful litter and they've sold all but one or two females. I think they've been getting $1500, but PM me and I'm sure I could get you the 24Hr Campfire 100% discount.
GTC….Your offer and your kindness is truly inspiring and it’s one of the great things about this place! I get frustrated by the infighting and arguing but then a post like yours comes along and it restores all my faith in this place!
God Bless you and may God comfort Bruce, Owen and family!

So sorry for your loss. I almost lost my Labrador that same way up on a trail above Multnomah Falls. It was pure luck to be in the right spot to be able to grab him by the tail.
I know it's early, and Rosie is still in our hearts. Filling this picture would be a true blessing. You can see where Rosie sat. Old Jenny is still kicking somehow, but her days are numbered. I feel her every morning to make sure she's breathing.

This thread is an emotional rollercoaster. Deep sadness over Rosie's death to grinning about GTC22's most thoughtful and generous offer of a pup and Bruce's acceptance.

Right on guys.
It's a place where good people do great things.
We will arrange to pick up Posy in Richfield UT. Rosie is still so much of our very beings, but a Posy needs to have an Emily to learn all the bad habits: chew up toys, urp on the rugs not the water proof floor, eat catschidt rokka from the cat box, scatter my shoes and socks where I can't find them, dig holes under the back porch, beg at the table (and always get rewarded), chase the cat, scatter the folded laundry, bark at a mouse farting, track mud in and onto Peg's new bedding...
Everyone please wish for GTC22's success today. He PM'd me from his black powder elk hunt spot. What a super guy.

Anyone who has hunted chukar much knows these places. They are chukar habitat and often their sanctuary. Hunters can't negotiate the nearly vertical mountain faces. Sheep hunters would also understand.
I would ask that this not become a tussle, but simply a tribute to a wonderful loving dog and a thank you to a complete stranger for his kind generosity.

to be honest this post pisses me off being a responsible hunting dog owner
I hunt chukar a lot. I run my griffs in orange vests e collars, and gps collars, I never let my griffs hunt out of my line of sight. if they jump, or I shoot a chukar in a steep cliff area I call them back with their e collar, reevaluate. I try and avoid dangerous cliff ares with my griffs when I can. it minimizes risk. sorry for loss but with preparation this loss was probably avoidable. learn from your mistake and teach your children how to safely hunt chukar with dogs

when im in the outdoors hunting, fishing in remote areas, , I prepare for worst cases scenarios before I head out and bring the necessary gear. A lot of hunting dog owners are really unprepared and put their dogs in human caused dangerous situations that are easily avoided with basic preparations. but now everyone, except the dog, is a victim...

We'd never met and I was new to posting on this forum (lurker) and I had mentioned that my two dogs had recently died within a month of each other. One good girl of old age, the little one with cancer. Right at Christmas time.
Out of the blue Bruce pm'd me and said that he had a beautiful pure bred pup for free if I wanted it. I reluctantly declined, still feeling raw about losing my companions. His generous and kind offer puts him permanently in the good guy camp.
So sorry to hear about your loss. Just 2 weeks ago we had to put down our 15 year old Jack Russell and it was one of the toughest things I have ever gone through.

If your kids still have one of those pups around in a month, I'd be super interested. (Not looking for any special pricing. Happy to pay for the right pup)

Better to get a non certified, non navdha breed back yard breeder Whpg to replace a hunting dog is great!

That's a bit of a low blow. I know of a dozen rock face mountainsides in Nevada that no one should climb. It's all crumbling shale. Lots of false holds that would pop off if you tried to grab them. None of that volcanic rock is stable. What's the point? Dogs dead. Let her lie.

When you're working with working breeds as a human being you should know all of the risks and prepare for them before sending the dog in to work with you.
I spend 3 months hunting chukar a year. I use griffs. why would an upland hunter send his dog in unsafe areas with no safety back ups or safety plans? no e collar, no training , no gps? Why would a hunter send his dog in a dangerous cliff area blinded with no visual of his dog and no way to avoid a dangerous situation and no way to call his dog from a dangerous cliff area and have no back plan if schit goes bad when his dog is injured or can't get out ? Why would an an upland hunter get a dog from an uncertified breeder especially when he cant afford a good upland dog?
this was a plugged up situation from the beginning

The mountain is too dangerous. I was headed to go up, but my wife stopped me. She said she couldn't lose us both. I've been there many times, and a lot of chukar live on the steep face. A lot of hunters hunt the canyon at it's base, but I have never seen anyone on the face or even up it 10-20 feet.
Ya but what about someone else? Like a local climber?
That would take work, money and planning to rescue a hunting dog and family member
Better to get a back yard breeder to replace a rare hunting breed like a wired haired pointing griiff
I spend 3 months hunting chukar a year. I use griffs. why would an upland hunter send his dog in unsafe areas with no safety back ups or safety plans? no e collar, no training , no gps? Why would a hunter send his dog in a dangerous cliff area blinded with no visual of his dog and no way to avoid a dangerous situation and no way to call his dog from a dangerous cliff area and have no back plan if schit goes bad when his dog is injured or can't get out ?
this was a plugged up situation from the beginning
maybe more insight from you ....
While I don't disagree with much of what you just said, I don't see the point in rubbing it in. Or even pointing it out. Sounds like a lesson was already learned the hard way.

When you're working with working breeds as a human being you should know all of the risks and prepare for them before sending the dog in to work with you.

How do you know so much about the breeder? I assume anyone spending money would do their due diligence regarding lineage, health certs, ect...

So many questions. What’s your point? Why don’t skip all the questions and just state your opinion instead of the twenty questions routine? Reminds me of the way most females communicate.
no lesson, no responsibility was learned. that is my point . just get a replacement puppy and make dumb decisions again. The unfortunate dog died from an un responsible owner who put the dog unprepared in a dangerous environment
maybe you can point out where the op will change behavior regarding running upland dogs in dangerous chukar cliffy areas?
why would a serious upland hunter buy a dog from a griff breeder who will not provide certification from genetic defects, from an untested breeder?
love your input
this entire situation sucks. but they point should be not to et this happen again
The dog suffered needlessly

Know all the risks and prepare for them all? If you are as experienced as you say, you know that's not possible. Hunting with dogs is inherently dangerous for the dogs. Scheit happens. I've never lost one hunting but I know of much better handlers than myself who have

of course you can lose hunting dogs despite all of your preparations
what precautions did the op take hunting in chukar country? no e collars, no training, no gps, no dog sling, no rope, no back up plan to get dog out if injured.
perhaps you have more insight?

the first thing breeder does is list health certs and genetic background. no serious upland hunter would respond to a random breeder post this would never happen
As a long time wired hared grif owner I know this as many back yard breeders have got into breeding selling puppies to make a buck to non hunting customers
No reputable griff breeder or hunting dog breeder would give away puppies random on the internet without a thorough background interview and just offer them over the internet, but as an upland hunting dog owner im sure you know this lol

Actually, I do know this. I just didn't equate a father in law making a generous offer to someone as proof that the actual breeder was unscrupulous. Silly me.
If you guys need help transporting the puppy, I live in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley and will be coyote hunting around Elko the weekend after this and could help with transportation
I know more than the averaged uniformed idiot who doesn't hunt with dogs . you've never hunted upland or waterfowl with a dog, I know this much based on your ignorant posts. lol

Everyone please wish for GTC22's success today. He PM'd me from his black powder elk hunt spot. What a super guy.

GTC22
This fills my heart with joy.
An awful nice gesture, for sure.
Also, very nice of GTC22's daughter and SIL to sacrifice $1500 for a complete stranger.
I couldn't imagine listening to her cries and not being able to do anything. That is terrible. Sorry for your loss.
a hunting dog owner could have hiked in from the bottom to save the dog
I lost my dog because I did not prepare and want to die because I lost a family member.
5 minutes suffering the loss of a close family member: oh I found a new family member on the inter webs but can't afford to buy the new family member
You Sir are a 1st class dikwad idiot, you certainly don't know the exact details nor the situation that faced him. I'm quite sure if there was something he could have done to ease the dogs pain, he would have gladly done so....no matter how uncomfortable or inconvenient it would have been.
Along with your stupid remark about his financial affairs or arrangement made, in which you have zero clue as to the situation with the new pup.
You'd best STFU, before you erase all doubt of your stupidity.

So sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine how difficult that was to endure. Dogs are the best people I know and I’m thankful for every minute of every day I get to spend with my dogs. Their lives are too damn short even when they leave a long full life.

Well I'm saying it for him out of decency and respect, so fugg off.

Hot damn we went from suicidal and "never hunting Chukar again" to "Check out my new Chukar hunting dog".
All in less than 24 hours.

Do you practice being a pompous ass? Probably just comes naturally.
I can’t be the only guy one that finds it funny.
You're not.
I feel for him the way he lost his dog but damn this is Safariman funny.
It does have the safariman/gophergunner smell to it.
Luv2 safari has been a solid dude and has been here a long time, I think you are barking up the wrong tree... best produce some evidence if you are going to make such an accusation

Someday, you will say or do something that could possibly be taken the wrong way and the benefit of a doubt may not be extended to you.... it will be your turn on the spit Maybe you could show a bit of intelligence and distinguish a pattern before you make a schity remark about a persons character.

Pard calm down…
Pard.... I am calm pard, you should see me when I am wound up....
It was an amazing gesture by GTC. That gesture was unsolicited by all accounts. That makes this a much different situation than Safariman or the other grifters of years past.
Feel good stories are rare these days. I'll take it for what it seems to be.

Settle down sally.
Yes I get his dog died. It happens, emotions happen. I get it was emotional. But take your emotions out of it and read it. It reads ridiculous.
We all know safariman isn’t seeming anything. I didn’t accuse of him of that. I said it has the same smell. And if you can’t tell the difference between the two, you are a fuuckin moron.
So when you get off your period, clean yourself up and get back to being normal.
Some of you people need to at least get a filter. RZ.
F uck that. Filter is never needed
That being said, im staying out of this one lol. Love dogs and losing them is heart breaking. Lost our golden not too long ago and it sucks. The op has not given me a reason to not believe him.

A sad loss followed by a gracious gift given. End of story.
Thanks Birdy.
I've hunted with luv2 and over Rosie several times. Crushed with his loss as I wanted to steal her.
For Ribka and all the other haters, when B and I started hunting there wasn't all of this elecronic feel good schidt. You had to roll with what you got.
Sorry you have to rely on electronics to do what men did for at least a century and a half.

Listen, mister.
If you think that opening story makes an ounce of GD sense you go ahead contribute to the Rosie fund.
I'm going to keep finding the whole affair comical.

I never made a remark about Bruce's character, I simply mentioned the shades of Safariman the thread turned to. I doubt Bruce took it any other way.

Unfortunately you are wrong about how Bruce took it. Thing is Bruce has been here a long time, shared many stories, pictures etc... his pic's and stories are what makes the campfire a worthwhile place to visit. I think anyone with half a brain could see he is a man of good character. But the most important part of the mans character was doing what real men are suppose to do, he was a teacher and mentor to his grandson Owen. He taught the boy how to be a man. He taught him outdoor and hunting skills. You could see it on Owens face when he posed with a brace of birds with the dogs. It is incredibly important for men to assume this role, it creates a civil and good society. My dad never did any of that, he was too busy making money for himself. I had to teach myself these things, scrounge chore money to buy a Stevens 22 single shot, an H&R Topper shotgun, then learn to hunt squirrels, rabbits and quail on my own. When the family was glued to the TV in the evenings I was reading Outdoor Life, Gun Digest virtually any thing hunting guns and fishing all the time. My passion for the outdoors literally saved my life! For a boy to do this on his own is not easy. It was also easy to see Bruce loved his dogs, I would bet a good sum of money those dogs were well taken care of. Reading Ribka's take on the dogs was enlightening for me. I have hiked the hills of Nevada for Chukar behind dogs and the only safety measure we took was a collar. Hell we were more likely to have a cooler of beer than a first aid kit... and recovery gear? we didn't know that existed. Point being Ribka is not wrong and we should listen and learn. His presentation was a bit ruff, but that's ok. But the snide referenses to Gopher Gunner and Safariman was over the top and compelled me to make a stand against that bullshit.... take it or leave it !

Pards come on don’t ruin this feel good story.. the op went from thinking suicide to I want to live in less than two hours Pards. If that isn’t a feel good story I don’t know what is. Also if you are thinking of offing yourself probably don’t want to broadcast that on the world wide internet.
If there's such a thing as karma, some of you disgusting trolls are destined to die- - - -alone, in pain, and crying for help that never comes. The only difference will be that you'll deserve every excruciating minute of it. The poor dog didn't deserve to die that way. BTW- - - -nobody will even think about coming to your aid, nor miss you when you're gone!

Over the top was you coming unglued because you disagreed with something I said. Then going to another thread and popping off there. That's a bitch move and you know it. You didn't handle it like a man, that's for fuuckin sure. Then you went to another one of my posts and did the same thing....bitch move.
They weren't snide. The story was fuucked up from the start and you blew a fuse when I called it out. I didn't say he's stealing anything. I said the story reeks of the same type of schit they would post up. You went off like a prom dress.
I've had plenty of dogs. Loved them, lost them, some in a bad way. I'll be damned if I'll have my dog go over a cliff, and not do a damn thing about it. Let alone have my wife sit with so we can hear it crying in pain until it dies and not do anything about it.
I'm going to assume you got into the Bud Light too heavy last night and you'll be fine after some Gatorade today.

Yes pard.... a very sad thread, then a feel good thread.... then a few trolls show up... it's a pattern... sorry pard... just calling out trolls, it's what i do...
I guess the fact nobody has called me out on this thread, yet many have voiced the same opinion as me. And Tzone..... well nobody has supported his point of view.... Same as the hockey thread, many have politely disagreed with him, and nobody agreed with him, nobody... I guess they extended the benefit of a doubt to him? Yet the little man can't give someone who is grieving a loss the benefit of a doubt..... says a thing or two about his character.... Not to mention is name calling tantrum when I called out his bad behavior....I think I see a pattern of a small ignorant man...
As one with two Springers currently, and lost my half Cocker-half Springer six or so years ago. All I can say is dang! Sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family.
I will anxiously await tzones 46,273 rd post ... I bet on his employer's dime, wonder if boss man knows he is trolling and arguing on the web? hahahhahaha Me I think I will climb the mountain behind the house and see if I can find an elk.... sun is shining, clear frosty morning..... When I get home maybe I will pour a glass of fine whiskey , log on and battle a troll.... or not... hahhahahahhaha
Not to mention is name calling tantrum when I called out his bad behavior....I think I see a pattern of a small ignorant man...
All of this before I called you anything.

I did call you a "pussy" and a "fuucking moron" after that...because that's what you were being.

Still calling names...on something you disagree with. Sounds pathetic to me. But you go on and keep watching my ass.
Go behind the house and find your safe space, chill out and get over it. I know I will.
What do you mean nobody supports his point of view?
Isn’t Bruce somewhere in his twilight years? Maybe 70’s? Idk for certain his age, but if Bruce is older. I’m giving him a pass on this horrible and unfortunate situation.
While I agree with some, who found it easy to pick apart the event, at least on his posted, emotional reaction about losing his hunting dog.
I don’t need to imagine what grief he and his wife were feeling over their loss of Rosie. We lost a GSP, named Zeek when I was a kid hunting upland bird. Zeek’s, remains were found weeks later by a rancher.
To me, some were trying to reconcile what the fûcked happend and what equipment may have prevented the event from happening.
Ribka, was extremely pissed at Bruce for not having Rosie outfitted with the available e and gps collars that may have prevented this situation. To me was understandable.
It was obvious, Ribka, was hurting more about the dog’s suffering to her end. I imagine none of us missed that most important part of the story.
Rib, gave solid information on how to minimize this situation with future hunting dogs. Which could’ve been Ribka’s full stop. His part and others about Bruce not scaling down the cliff, walking around the mountain, then working his way up from the bottom, or making no attempt to find someone local who could climb was, too me, not necessary. Especially, if Bruce is older. What a younger hunter, in better shape, would’ve, could’ve done doesn’t mean anything. It was Bruce on the cliff. Not anyone else.
Aside from Ribka, the other comedic value offered by some, who found an opportunity to tag Bruce because he went from a loss, then to a ‘absolute’ of never hunting again, then to the acceptance from a member kindly offering up a new puppy seemed petty and ass-hole-ish. Yeah, yeah, I see the drama value. But, so what?
The inferences made about the generosity of the puppy coming from a backyard breeder was deserving of a GFY. SMFH on that one.
Lastly, the correlation that Bruce’s integrity is suspect and aligned with the likes of a few other former members who are known POS was just absurd.
Flave would have never ended up in this predicament.... he would have drove dog to the hills, shot dog, kicked it over the edge, drove home.... told wife and kids dog run off..... Looked everywhere couldn't find the dog... told kids stop whining, go climb a tree and fetch him a coconut.... grab a sixer of IPA ... fire up the puter.... log onto the campfire and call everyone dumfuggs.... did I miss anything?

I've hunted a lot of places with lots of birds, and done it with a lot of dogs and a lot of people.
I've yet to see a dog nose dive off a cliff after a flushed bird.
But if I ever did I'm sure we would have brought our wife back the next day to hear its last cries echo throughout the ravine.
a hunting dog owner could have hiked in from the bottom to save the dog
Just read this one. One thing for sure, if a dog was at the bottom of a smallish cliff where a living creature could survive a fall, I would go recover it.
Mother listen to that dog cry in agony. Listen, mother just listen to them you hear whimpering your whimpering mother dogs almost gone from this world. mother she’s done she’s not whimpering no more she’s dead let’s go home and have some pie.
Part of the story I don’t understand why would you take your wife back to the area so she could hear that poor dog, whimpering agony is mind-boggling to me.

I would recover it dead or alive. Thats the least the dog deserved.
"Bruce?!!! My dearest Bruce. Is that you ol' buddy? I knew you wouldn't leave me Bruce. Who you bring back?"
"Peggy?!?!?!?! What the fugk Peggy gonna do for me? Yeah I know you're both old you geriatric fugk. That's why you bring back somebody of sound mind and spirit! Not your fugking Peggy! FUGK!!!!"
"Hey Bruce, you speak dog? What I'm trying to say is fugk your Chukar, fugk Owen, fugk Peggy, and most of all, fugk you, you Frankenstein lookin' fugk! ROSIE OUT!"

While I was out hunting for 5 hours / 2.5 hours in two different blinds, you on the other hand spent 7 hours stalking another man on the Internet. 😂😂😂
The GASH formally known as AlwaysINDoors, who’s only “Hunting” she’s bragged about on the Fire is shooting the neighbors pussycat. 😾
Maybe you can visit your hero Flave in Floriduh, and he’ll take ya Lizard Shootin. That is, if he can find the right ammo for his TactiCool Daisy Red Rider. 😂 I’m sure you two gals can find a dog or two to kick to death while y’all are at it. 🐩

You sure do like to talk about sucking a dick. 😂😂😂 Probably why they ran your sorry ass out of MT & TX.
So, maybe we should just contact Aram von Benedikdik and tell him down over the edge is a record muley, oh and by the way, as long as you are down there, would bring back the dog back up also? See if he goes and gets it...
I read this thread on day one and thought what kind of a nut job takes his wife out to listen to a dog whimpering and dying and then wants to kill himself over it. Turns out, that was actually before this thread went to crazy town. The Fire is a strange place but I suppose I could have figured that out from the transexual attraction thread.
