You know, I never cared one iota about hockey. When we moved to Calgary we were all in and thoroughly enjoyed going to the games. We left there five years later in 2009 and I have not cared one iota about it. Rugby did the same for my time in Australia.
Caps had a stupendous +81 diff in the regular season. Could be hard to beat with their D this year but they always seem to find a way to lose (a la Vancouver).
Thinkin' Pens will be the first repeat since the Wings or the Hawks will bring it back to Chi-town.

Should be some good games, regardless.
You got that right. Hoping Ovi can show them the light. I still wear shirts from '99!! Arghhhhh!!
I hope Dubinsky makes Crosby look like Methot's finger. If you get that, you are a hockey fan.
I couldn't believe when Methot pulled his glove off that night. Friggen finger was peeled down to the bone. When he skated over next to Crosby, I don't know what he was saying, but Crosby never lifted his head. Just staring down at the ice. Someone will get him, for sure. Like the night he was spitting his teeth out like chicklets.
Thought hockey was a wintertime sport? Suppose they are just like the rest of Pro sports. Baseball running into November, Football in February, Basketball into May, Soccer - who cares.
Yeah! I lived in the Edmonton area during the Great Gretzky years, and loved watching Sather's teams skate circles around everybody... but that was long ago and far away! I doubt the Oilers will make it to the 3rd round, but I'm not alone in predicting they'll win the first round in 6 games or less.
I switched allegiance to the Flames when I moved back to Calgary in '87, and have stuck with them since... but I don't feel real hopeful about them this year. If they squeak past the Ducks in Round One, it's gonna be a miracle.
The Caps should win it all this year, if there is any luck and justice involved. They have the best goalie in the league, and maybe OVechkin will pull his head out of his ass for once and lead them to the Cup. If not, I predict another Black Hawks win.
I hope the Capitals beat the Leafs, TSN and Sportsnet fawn all over them like the MSM did with Hillary and Barak. It gets to be revolting seeing so much over the top homerism from them.
Would like to see the Wild and Predators do well this year too.
Leafs/Caps is a great match-up. Through one full OT it's still 3-3.
Number 2 OT coming up.
Leafs are hanging in there better than I expected, although largely to the credit of Anderson. Still, for a team with very minimal playoff experience they are acquitting themselves fairly well.
I think I've gone a bit deaf from the wife yelling instructions to the Leafs from the couch, but otherwise a pretty good game! I was hoping they could win one game, just to avoid getting swept. I don't get too wrapped up in it but they are a fun team to watch this year, lots of youth and enthusiasm and more than a little skill too.
There is almost no chance the wild can get past the blues. They blues are a horrible match-up for the wild. They're big, fast, and hit hard. The wild are fast, that's it. The wild don't have a guy on the team that can consistently score or even hit the net it seems at times.

Agree. Almost no physical play from the Wild. The Blues out muscled them around the net on both O and D.
I am a life long Pens fan and didn't think they had a chance to repeat due to injuries and schitty play in general. Seriously thought the Blue Jackets would win the series easily because the Pens don't respond well to the physicality of a hard checking team. Historically they quit playing hockey and start fighting.
But then they easily won their two home games. Then they come back from a 3-0 deficit and win in OT... I think they have what it takes as long as they keep their heads and play their brand of hockey.
Caps are struggling with Toronto for Christs sakes. Two OT games and they are split. No one else in the east presents a challenge for the Pens. They definitely have a chance to repeat.

Not this season. Flippers are going down and the Caps will do it!! Leafs are a great warm-up series. Big and fast!! In fact, I believe they are ranked 4th in 5 on 5 play.
Leafs are a lot better team than they appear. Great future!!
Well looks like the Leafs are gonna make a series of this after all! They had some really awful and some really good moments tonight, but overall they seem to be getting better.
I figured you'd be along. Bet the little wifey is happy!!!!
I'll say it again. Leafs are a good team. Young and fast skaters. Smart too.
Congrats!!
We're lucky there is no close neighbors around, they'd assume someone was being murdered in here! Her instructions consist mainly of "GO!", "SHOOT!" and "KILL HIM!", issued at a volume most wouldn't believe possible from someone her size.I'm mostly happy when they win just so she doesn't pout for the rest of the night.
Well this should be interesting..I had hoped the Leafs could win one game out of the series, and they've won 2 so I'm happy with that. I expect the Caps will be turning up the pressure, and while I'd love to see the series go to 7 games I'm pretty much expecting the Caps will take the next 2 to win.
As I recall, the Caps and Leafs are in the top 3 for scoring when 5 on 5. Thinking youth will take the Leafs down. Although, they do have speed on their side and Anderson is net-minding as good as can be expected.
Waiting for someone to take out PGH Flipper the Slasher.
I doubt any of these other playoff teams could put the Leafs away.
Funny stuff
Maybe so but perhaps you'll see. I say give them 2 years. Maybe even 1.
If they can tighten up the defense for next year they could be a real contender, especially if Anderson continue's this level of play. The young guns should hopefully continue to improve as well. I just want a hockey town to win the cup, not one of the teams where the city barely knows they have a hockey team.

Regardless, awesome playoff hockey everywhere!!!
Agreed wholeheartedly!
Rangers thru, now to see if the Sharks live to play game Seven.
Yeah, I guess I'm a Rangers fan again this year as the Sharks kinda blew it in their own barn. If EDM goes on to win the whole shebang, Todd McLellan will be laughing all the way to the Stanley Cup party/parade in ALberta.
Well some how the Blues didn't give this one away. Now it's on to Nashville. There's some bad blood between these two teams, should be good for some entertaining hockey.
Congrats to the Caps, they deserved the win for sure. Anderson stood on his head to keep them in it, but Caps were clearly the superior team in control and smart play, hope they do well in the next series.
Even though the Sharks didn't make it thru, I'm really happy for hockey in general, the NHL for sure.
From last year, if memory serves, with no Canadian teams making it even into the playoff, to this year with five in the first round and two making it through, it's a great time for the sport..
Unfortunately for you Canadian guys, I'm now rooting for the Rangers so might could be you're down to one team in the next round as I hope Edmonton beats the snot out of the Hated Ducks (at least hated by Sharks fans!)
Good luck to all you teams in this next round, plenty of great hockey to be seen still.
Even though the Blues played as good of a game as I could hope for in terms of effort, they lost a close one. If they continue the same effort through out the series you can bet the farm it will go all 7 games.
The Pens seem to have the Cap's number. I realize there is tons of hockey to be played, but these boys are looking tough. So many great skaters on the ice.
And watching these two games proves, without any room for debate that 87 > 8!
Hope all is well with him cos that had to hurt and likely will for awhile.
Tommy Kuhnhackle and Haggy are hurt too.
I've got to say, that I dont think the better team won tonight. I really do think Washington played a better game, but every ounce of puck luck in the world was on the side of the Pens.

Lets keep it going! LETS GO PENS!!
I certainly agree with you there, Fleury and the pipes and all the blocked shots kept that from being a blow out in the first period. Too bad, as I'd like to see the Caps win a game or two so the series goes a few more games. Gonna be tough on them now.
Caps played a pretty good game the rest of the night too, but that's hockey. Sucks sometimes if it happens to "your" team.
Geno
PS, I gotta keep a closer eye on the schedule, I missed the OTT/NYR game, who the hell starts games that early anyway. Hardly even lunch time out here. I thought/figured it would start around 4 PDT. Mowed the lawn and everything this afternoon, not knowing there was a game on.
Saw that last night...was pretty cool. Although the same thing happened at a Leafs game a year or two ago. I'd bet most Canadians could sing both anthems...not sure if the same would happen south of the border.
Predators look pretty strong to this old hockey viewer. Might be trouble for the Pens if they both get thru to the final.
Suckin' Duckin's won one, bummer. I was hoping EDM would sweep.
Geno
Boy did they Preads ever look good!
I do like Edmonton too. Two teams that are fun to watch.
That's what this time of year is all about, right? Fun for the players, fun for the fans. Loads and Loads of big hits, just like it was in the "olden day" ...............like before helmets! And "synthetic" sticks.
Can't wait, 2 games "today" as it just turned Tuesday for me.
Not too sure about the major/ejection though!! Guess loss/control of stick.....Go figure!
Here we goooooooo!!
I'm with you, thought it should have just been the major, not an ejection. 5 for not controlling the stick and an injury on the play. It was a typical "reaction" type hit. When I saw the slo-mo replay I was following his eyes and they were watching the game still, wasn't even paying attention to Syd after the hit. Niskanen would have gone down if he had let Crosby hit him and he was trying to avoid that (while getting to hit Syd also??? mmmmm? ). I might have even hit hm the same way myself, protect myself first.
I'm wondering if given their history the refs didn't think there might have been an intent to injure. They sure seemed to talk it over for while.
Honestly hope the kid is OK, as he's a blast to watch. But he does have those previous head issues to deal with. Gonna make the playoffs a lot different without him,
Sorry Pens fans, best hopes for Syd (and his family).
The Caps simply can't beat Pittsburgh because they just aren't as good. Their only recourse is thug hockey like we saw last night. Taking out the opposition's stud player is their only chance.

I don't think the hit was intentional, just a knee-jerk reflex action in defense of getting hit...they've played together before, no animosity was intended.
While I have no doubt some of the hits are retaliatory, I think it's rare they're actually trying to knock them out for multiple games. I played hockey for almost 20 years and yes, I gave a guy a shot or we dropped the gloves, but neither of us were trying to permanently hurt the other.

Sounds like a man who knows his hockey.
AS bwana said, hit was a reaction to Syd coming in fast and out of control. Nisakanen was just trying to stay in the game.
Bet tzone has done the same a few times?
I have, just during public skate times. Have a scar on my shin from a toe pick on rental skate from a kid I bounced from the red line to the other end boards, just by putting my hands up like Niskanen did, except I didn't even have a stick at the time.
I haven't looked yet. Hope Matty N doesn't come up for supplemental discipline from the league.

I agree, and watching the hit in slow motion confirmed it was just reactionary...wasn't like "concussion" was on his mind.
It's not like he hasn't taken shots at guys....like the slash in the first round!
I do like this series, but the Caps have always relied on 8 too much. They're a one trick pony. Well, two trick because Holtby is playing really, really well!

Yes Sid has a long history with concussions, anymore bad ones and he'll have to retire from the game permanently...a lot of new research had been done in head trauma, just football alone shows the long term damage...including the greats in boxing.
If I had children I'd sure be watching the things they do and keeping an eye on symptoms and making the family doc do the same.
I had a few "bumps" in my life, but back then it was just "getting my bell rung", no talk of concussion.
Wonder how that's affecting me now?
Now, after all the research, there's no excuse. I like the rules the leagues have implemented requiring a trip to the "quiet room" after a head hit and exam by the doc.
Silly athletes will try to play through anything. Just look at some of the Sharks as an example. Jumbo with torn ACL and MCL in his knee, Marleau with broken thumb etc.
I bet there's some guys playing tonight that should be in an operating room.
That won't be good for the Pens. Too bad, It would have been a better series if they had been able to play all the games. Hopefully they can come back if the Pens get thru.
I agree with Geno & byc, it's a long standing rivalry between 2 solid teams...nobody wants a player out of a career. I just don't believe this player intended to hurt Sid, he was just playing the game. I think the Pen's depth in talent will carry them thru the series, and others will step up and take the lead.
OTT down 0-4 at NYR, then get one back with a beauty of a pass from behind the net. I thought we were going for a Sharks style 7-0 blow-out by the Rangers, but perhaps the Sens can battle back like last game?
Geno
PS, at the NHL level I doubt there's many players wishing to seriously/permanently injure a fellow player as you may be traded to that team, both guys could end up 8 years down the road on the same team, or one of them might end up in the front office of a team you're gonna end up on. Tempers flare, after all, there's a bunch of testosterone out there, but I doubt there's any real "hate" going on.
well my Blues are looking black and blue these days. something tells me their season is soon to come to an end. great hockey though, its been a bang bang series.

It's hockey
There was nothing either thuggish or dirty about the play that Crosby was hurt on & there really should not have even been a 5 minute major & the game DQ.................further evidenced by the fact that the league took no further action.
Hockey is a contact sport despite what some may think & sometimes awkward hits or plays happen.
Pens playing without the best player in the world, their #1 D-man, their starting goalie, getting crushed on fancy stats, and still up 3-1 on the President's Trophy winners. Fleury is playing out of his mind, as noted, Holtby is merely losing his.

You would think it was the NBA protecting Jordan the way thongs have been knotted by Crosby's misfortune...
I'm a Die-hard Chicago fan. Saw my first game in 1947. A little disappointed in them this year, because they stunk up the first round, but I like their style of play. Speed, skill and heads-up Hockey and not the St. Louis Goon hockey style. Glad to see the Pred's knock off St. Louis. Go Nashville!

St Louis is a big team but that doesn't make them a goon team.
Hitchcock was a goon Coach. He encouraged his players to hit, hit, hit. As a result his good players like Shattenkirk sat in the penalty box while the opposing team was scoring goals. History has shown, The Montreal Dynasty as one example that Stanley Cup winners are composed of skilled, and well-coached player, not goons, like the Blues have had for the last few seasons. All the great players did not have to try to put their opponent's head into the boards to win games. Hopefully Yeo will change that.
I was at the Oilers game last night. Pretty crazy game! Let's go Oil!
Sam, you're a lucky man. That was a classic.
They beat the Sharks, so I hope they take care of the Quackers too! (I sorta hate the Ducks, just sorta, only a little that is. well, maybe more than a little )
Oh, if people think they are a fluke, they're not taking into account the coaching staff. McLellan and his folks took the Sharks to quite a few playoffs. He kinda' knows what he's doing.
Geno
PS, you folks are lucky to have Drew Remenda back up there too. I miss him.
I got to go to Game 2 vs the Sharks too. The only game where Kassian has heard his name chanted I'm sure. It's been great to break the drought with a deep playoff run.
If you guys want Drew Remenda back I'm sure there are a few thousand Oilers fans that would ship him back to you. His commentary on how good all the other teams are and how bad the Oilers are playing wears thin for the Oilers faithful around here.

SS
I haven't been to a playoff game since 1996 or so in SJ. And that was a 6 hr drive to get to. Again, I'm jealous!
Drew has been badmouthing your team? This year even? That doesn't really seem like him. He used to give credit where credit was due and vice versa. He was never afraid to question management decisions, especially from above the coaching level. I watched an awful lot of Sharks games and was happy to hear him calling it the way he saw it instead of just toeing the party line. As I understand it, that's kinda why you folks have him up there. Wilson didn't want him around any more. I've heard a lot worse commentators, that's for sure.
I wish your team the best. I think it would be great for the youngsters on that team to get to the final, even win it. It would give them the added incentive to keep playing their best to try to get back, even with a relatively "weak" team, for the rest of their careers. And good for hockey in general to have a Canuck team. If Ottawa wins, to have two Canadian teams in there would just be too much!
Seemed like an awful lot of point blank opportunities that didn't go, on both sides, maybe more for the Pens.
Death. Taxes. Pens over Caps.
Can't imagine how pissed I'd be if I were a Caps fan, considering who the Pens had to roll out on D and still getting shut out. But that's why hockey is a vastly superior game to basketball. It can be really hard to score, you aren't gifted anything, and often the Gods of Probability just feel like stepping on your neck and kicking you in the balls. Ovechkin is going to see that one-timer deflect off Fleury's stick for a long time.
Glad Edmonton is out. They have had 4 first overall picks in the last 6 years culminating with McDavid. It seems so wrong to reward such incompetence the way the NHL has, that's why I can never cheer for them. They ruined the Draft lottery for the rest of the rebuilding teams.
I hope Nashville and Ottawa can make it through, both teams were built honestly.
Gerry, Don't you know the NHL (Bettman especially) is all about parity.
They don't want a team to become the NY Yankees of hockey, or the big markets with deep pockets to get all the best players.
Still, the Oilers have been so bad over the last few years, maybe they deserve a break? They won't get a high draft pic this year I think, unless they've traded for one.
I too hope Nashville and Ottawa end up playing each other. But I think the Pens are going to the final AGAIN.
That was a gutsy performance with 2 of the top 3 centermen out.....Hope Fisher is back on Monday. Pretty sure I have a ticket for Monday...just have to talk to a buddy in the morning. They are getting pretty hard to come by. Two games to close it out and play for the Cup.
No rooting interest in the west, but it sure looked like if the Ducks focused less on gooning it up than playing hockey they might have done better. But then, the refs are letting anything short of stab wounds and brass knuckles go uncalled, so I see their point. That late penalty on Subban happened about the same time as an obvious interference and double trip by the Ducks. What?? Nothing to see here.
PS Bwana_1, you seeing any bulls in the timber there?
Geno, I'm south of the herd by 2 hours or so, most of them are in the St.Mary's or Benezette area...world class bruisers I'd love to hunt, but tags are far and few between. I go up camping in the area, and get great pictures in the fall...but pictures don't eat real good
I own a lot of land here, and we live on a mountain pretty much by ourselves...surrounded by old pines and big oaks, thus the "Timber". I hunt 3 or 4 states a year for whitetails mainly archery, so I rarely if ever hunt here in Pa.
Been thru that area, lived up on the other side of Allegheny NF for a couple of years. Never managed to see the PA elk though.
And the ending of that game sucked..................huge ly, biggly, and all those Trumpisms.
Two goals,Malkin's off his glove and that game winner by Guentzle were Rinne's to have. He lost the game for the team that did such a great game. Holding the Pens to 37 minutes w/o a shot, dude that's the way to win games, not lose them. Not to mention a goal called back.
Spent the entire game trying to get a new TV working. Watched the post game highlights on the computer. Beginning of the 3rd must have been interesting.
I'm stuck over here in Korea with the games coming on at 9 in the morning and I have to be at work. IT sure does suck living in a foreign country trying to watch sports. During the NFL Playoffs I was getting up at 0330 in the morning to watch games.

battue,
hope this finds you and the cockers in fine fettle.
I don't know how the beginning of the third looked either. I've got to watch the game on my computer on the NBCSN.com feed. There's so many ads the friggen Adobe flash player crashes when the banner ad at the top changes, frequently some games. Sometimes when the commercial are on also. Tonight it happened right during the commercial break right before the third started.
When it crashes I have to refresh the page, which of course involves watching an ad before they put the game up. By the time I got back to hockey they had just scored AGAIN. Score was now 4-1 and I didn't see any of the last three.
At least I got to watch the Preds attempt a comeback. Murray kept the Pens in the game early, stopping all those shots except one before the end of the second.
Oh well, watching a partial game is better than watching no hockey at all.
Just wait till the show gets to Smashville! Things could change dramatically.

Watching the highlights again the Predators have had some tough breaks. They are a quick team that is better than the scores have indicated.
The goal by Aberg was special. Rinne has had a couple goals against that found the smallest of openings. Having Malkin bearing down on you, essentially one on one is not something to look forward to. His flip of the puck off the boards to get around and into the open was like a snake strike. I think he is the the best shooter on the team.
They're good and better than I thought. If the breaks start going their way, it could get interesting. I suspect on Saturday they are going to come out hunting heads. However, the Pens have more than a few that can shoot. They better stay out of the penalty box. Malkin comes into the game in beast mode, you don't want to PHO further.
I hate making predictions but would love to see the Penguins lift lord Stanley cup on home ice after game 5. Penguins have never hoisted the cup on home ice.
Boy the Preds seem unprepared for the Pens. They HAD to know they're that good...everyone else did. I can see the Preds winning a game, maybe 2 but I think they're done as far as the Cup goes. I hope not tho.
The Pens always seem to start fast & finish strong...going stale in the middle....count on the Pred's taking a couple games, starting now. What a tough sport, these guy's have all been beating the chit out of each other for a long time...the Cup is a marathon.

packrat,
I'll check into that, thanks. But do I need a cable subscription? Like xfinity or something like that?
It was pretty much a giving the predators would win. The Penguins played sloppy and stood around. I think game 4 will be very different and the classless fans known as the predators fans i hope will be crying in there beer and game 5 Penguins will hoist the cup in Pittsburgh. Go Penguins
The Penguins looked terrible, at times, last night. Two break away shots on goal within a couple minutes of each other? Can't do that with the Cup at stake. I hope to see a big win for us on Monday night.

Pens need to find their legs and eliminate the errant passes and they will be fine. They miss LeTang on defense more than a little.
Nashville has some great fans and they remind me more than a little of here in Pittsburgh. Better team than I realized and faster than the Pens and the Pens are quick.

Nope, just an internet connection.
Packrat,
Just tried to get it. Seems I have to "log in". Assuming that means I need to get an account? Free maybe? Just provide them with email so I get more junk emails? Cost of doing business with them?
Geno
PS edit: the one link wanted a CC number and ccv. I don't think so. Said they wouldn't charge, it was just for verification. Yeah, right. Thanks anyway packrat, but that kind of stuff ain't for me.
Good thing (I guess) my feed over the F'n HughesNet sucks, I haven't been able to watch since I attempted to get on in the first period. Saw two highlights during intermission and the ads have screwed up everything else.
OH well, I'll go to nhl.com and "watch" it over the gamecenter live report.
comeback time for the Preds? Did they pill Rinne yet?
Try this link. http://livestreamz.net/nhl-live-stream/ It's the best one I've found and has the fewest popups and redirects. I don't get regular programming and have to watch hockey on my computer.
Well folks,
1 down.......................... 3 to go.
packrat,
I'll check into that, thanks. But do I need a cable subscription? Like xfinity or something like that?
Geno
Nope, just an internet connection.
Packrat,
Just tried to get it. Seems I have to "log in". Assuming that means I need to get an account? Free maybe? Just provide them with email so I get more junk emails? Cost of doing business with them?
Geno
PS edit: the one link wanted a CC number and ccv. I don't think so. Said they wouldn't charge, it was just for verification. Yeah, right. Thanks anyway packrat, but that kind of stuff ain't for me.
Not sure why they asked for that. I just found the link by googling free games and this came up. I don't even remember giving them a e-mail address. Wish it would have worked for you.
I'm at a motel in Libby MT watching it. Preds are getting their butts handed to them.
SO, after the game, would one of you kind people, or maybe two (one from the Preds side!) let me know if the game was mostly played in center ice. Six minutes to go and there's only 43 shots total? Is Murray pitching a shut out or the Preds shots only coming from outside and he has easy saves to make? Was it a hard fought game or did the Preds just fold up for some reason? Did Rinne suck or did the team let too many shots through in front of him?
I hate HughesNet. I hope they aremonitoring this.
Supposed to get their Gen 5 installed in a couple of weekends. I sure hope that makes life better on the innnenet.
Crosby played extremely well tonight. The best player in the NHL played like the best player in the NHL. Several of Pittsburg's goals were terribly tough to defend, and were set up by very good plays. Pittsburgh upped the tempo and looked a lot like the Predators did in the last two games. Nashville had plenty of scoring opportunities, but Pittsburgh did a great job of keeping the front of the net clear. You sure can't blame the loss on Rinne, as the entire Nashville team lacked the intensity of their last two games.
Pens found their legs and dished out more than a little physical abuse on the Pred. Their passing was a clinic. Malkin picked Subban's jock strap on an assist between his legs. Subban was like a frustrated bull in a china shop from the 2nd on. Nashville lost their cool. They were crushed.
Pens offense: A Pens defense: A Pens Goaltending: A--But he wasn't challenged all that much.
If it wasn't late I'd go get a Primante's. "Capicola on the heal and run it thru the garden."

It may be sac religious to say so, but I prefer Fat Heads over Primante Brothers. How about that bad azz pizza joint over in Mt. Lebanon!!!! No matter, as it would be great to be in the Burgh tonight! Been planning a trip to Heinz Field for this fall, possibly the Bengals! Go Pens!!!
They put a big hurt on the Predators last night. I couldn't bear to watch the end. 6-0 is bad enough. At least I saw some decent plays by Crosby and Malkin. I thought for a while that they were going to be no-shows. If they perform in the next game like last night, the Pred's are toast. Maybe Subban can put another chokehold on Sidney. I take it Crosby took offense to that because he used the Ice to pound Subban's head a few times.
4-1 – the Penguins' all-time record when they can eliminate an opponent from the Stanley Cup Final. The lone loss came in Game 5 last year against San Jose. They're 4-0 on the road.
Their team was royally screwed, they should be booing............
Case in point: Small children are taught sportsmanship young in life...play hard,,,win with class, lose with class. Pittsburgh's lost more Championships in many sports than you, and we don't boo the winners.
My point is breaks like the disallowed goal always happen to teams like Pittsburgh and never to the Nashville's of the league.
No question, that was a BAD break for Nashville. With hockey, there are sooooo many opportunities to score and to save goals. Both teams worked hard, played hard, made good plays and bad plays alike. The series was not won or lost on that call.

I understand you're disappointed, but the ref blew the whistle...puck dead, that's not ripped off,,,that's the rules, nobody cheated. They reviewed the play, on home town ice...dead puck.
Back to back Cups isn't luck, one of the best final games in recent history.
Nashville went 0 for 4 on power plays. One of which was 5 on 3 for 30seconds or so. I guess all the calls were going for the Pens when that happens.
Yep bunch whiners saying Pittsburgh caught a break on that goal.. Nashville was handed a gold nugget on a 5 on 3 then rinne interfered and no call.. yeah Pittsburgh stole that game.. Go Penguins! Do they have what it takes to win 3 in a row??
I'm not a hockey fan, but I am a sorts fan. We get our local TV out of Nashville, so I've had to hear all about the Predators for the past 6 weeks or so. I have never sat down and watched a hockey game from start to finish, but over the years I've watched enough to gain a halfway understanding of what the game is about. One of the reasons I've never really cared for hockey is because of the violence, as I see no point in some of the hits they give each other, as some of it has nothing to do with the game. But, having said that, today's hockey is pale in comparison with the way it once was, as far as the dirty hits go. Nashville had their chances last night, and probably should have won, but it just wasn't meant to be. I think it all boiled down to who was the been there-done that team, and it wasn't the Predators.
I didn't get to see the game, thanks for the semi-recap folks. Recalled goals, 5 on 3's, one goal total only before the goalie was pulled, "poor" or questionable calls, ............ seems I missed a decent one, regardless of outcome.
Now, time for fishing, reloading, retirement stuff............................ then the Sharks start up again and Pitt better watch out!
Saw mention of Cindy scoring more if he passed less...........ha, he's a piker compared to Jumbo Joe Thornton. Those kind of guys are a hoot, no? If they can pass through one defenders skates, then under/over the stick of another defender, to the tape of their teammate on the other side of the crease, don't you think they could put it in that 5 hole or over a shoulder once in a while? At least try and hope for a rebound?
Again, Congrats to your team Pittsburgh.
Geno
PS Yes "Cindy".................... he has a reputation from the old days ........................... and he's not holding up to it as well the last few years. I actually enjoy watching him most games now. But boy, when he broke into the league, more soft calls going his way than Gretzky even.
